Ch 10- Outside opinions

Zach's POV

Today is the day that my childhood best friend Ben flies down from Montana to stay with me and my family for a week. Ben moved away last year and we all miss him terribly.

We are going to pick him up from the airport around noon.

Yesterday was amazing, I know y/n had a great time!! She is such an incredible person, Im so lucky.  

I decide to text her and let her know that Ben is going to be here for a week. I know this means that we won't have any alone time to do things, but the physical aspect of our relationship isn't everything so we will be fine.

Me: Do you want to come over and meet Ben around 5:30pm?

Y/n: Yeah sounds good!!

I shower and get dressed, wearing black jeans with holes in the knees and a solid white shirt. I cuff the sleeves up, I do that with almost every shirt I wear. My black vans pair perfectly. 

When I walk downstairs I see Reese doing a craft with finger paint. My family already at breakfast but my mom saved me some eggs and sausage on a plate on the kitchen counter.

"Dad its 11:15, we should leave to pick up Ben." I say peeking my head out the sliding glass doors that lead into the backyard. My dad has been fixing the hot tub since it broke a few days ago.

"Ok, do you want to drive?" He asks me.

Since I turned 16 a month ago I got my license and can drive now.

We hope in the car and go to pick up Ben.

"I think thats him over there," my dad says pointing under a Delta sign. I pull over and pop the trunk open.

"Ben!! I missed you bro." I say as we hug.

"How've ya been ZD?" Ben replies. Ben has called me ZD since we were young since my middle name is Dean.

After we get him from the airport we grab some lunch.

On the car ride back we talk and catch up, I didn't realize how much I missed my best friend. I tell him a little bit more about y/n...he already knows we are dating.

We arrive at my house and Ryan and Reese run out into the driveway. Reese jumps into his arms, he spins her around.

"Ben!!!! I missed youuuu." Reese exclaims.

"Hi cutie, you've gotten so big." Ben says kissing her head.

We all walk inside and get Ben situated, we decide to go swimming.

Around 5:00 we go inside and and get cleaned up, y/n will be coming over in half an hour.

"I can't wait for you to meet her. She makes me so happy, man." I say smiling and looking at the ground shyly. 

"Im happy for you Zach, I can't wait to meet her too." He says while drying his hair off with a towel. 

I hear the front door open. "Hi y/n, how are you sweetie?" My mom says while giving her a hug.

She unclips Rosie's leash and the pup trots over to Reese who is watching some tv on the couch.

"Im great Myta!! Wheres Zach?" She asks.

"UP HERE!!" I say shouting from the top of the stairs.

She runs up the stairs and jumps into my arms. "Hi baby" she says after kissing me.

I put her down and we walk into my room where Ben is sprawled out on my bed.

"Ben, this is y/n." I say gesturing to the gorgeous girl under my arm right arm.

Ben sits up and gives her a hug.

  "Hi y/n it's so nice to meet you, I have heard so many things about you." he say winking at me.

I punch his arm and we all laugh.

We decide to go for a walk to the same park that y/n and I went to yesterday. Y/n puts Rosie's leash on and we walk out the door.

When we arrive there is a little dog that Rosie drags y/n over to meet. 

Ben gestures for me to stay back while y/n introduces Rosie to the other puppy and talks with the owners.

"Dude she's great and all, but don't you think you should be dating someone as famous as you? Im not trying to be rude...but this is like free fame for her. People probably think she only likes you for your followers." He says shrugging. 

I pause for a moment and just glare at him.

"Are you serious? Ben, its not like that at all. I really like her and I don't care if she has a large social media following or not." I say sternly. What he says just upset me, I know that y/n is already thinking that she's a burden to me...I hope she didn't hear him say that.

Rosie comes running up from behind up and I scoop her up getting lots of sweet puppy kisses.

"That little puppy was so sweet and the owner was really nice too!" y/n says smiling.

Y/n POV-

After talking with the owner of a little boxer puppy I walk back over to Zach and Ben. They are facing the other direction.

I hear Ben say that he thinks Zach should be "dating someone more famous" and that people think I'm only dating Zach "for his followers".

I walk away before they see that I'm right behind them. I take a few seconds to gather myself and then I walk back over and pretend like I didn't hear him say that.

"That little puppy was so sweet and the owner was really nice too!" I say faking a smile.

We walk around the park for a little while and then head back home.

We part ways and say our goodbyes. As soon as my front door shuts behind me, tears immediately start streaming down my face. 

I am a burden to Zach, I don't benefit him in anyway. All of his fans think that Im dating him for his fame, but it's not true but. I really really like Zach for who he is not all his fame or followers!!

I'm going to give him time with his best friend this week and just keep to myself. What if he listens to Ben and agrees?

The main thing keeping me grounded is my relationship with Zach. 

But maybe Ben was right, maybe Zach should just date someone as famous as him to keep things fair...

A/N- I probably won't switch POVs that often, but it was vital in this chapter so that you could really understand Zach's upcoming confusion.
