Ch 37- Stop 2: Odd timing

December 28...

My phone vibrates as my alarm goes off at 6:00am.

We wake up and shower before heading to our next destination, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

About 4 hours into the 7 hour drive, I get a text from my dad. 

Dad: Hey honey I hope your trip is going great so far. Please unblock your mother's number and call her when you get the chance, she has something important to tell you. Love you!!

I still feel so guilty that I never told dad I was pregnant, but it's for the best.

"What's up with your dad?" Zach asks.

"Um he said to unblock my mom's number because she has something 'important' to tell me" I reply with a bit of confusion.

"Well do you want to call her now?" Zach reaches down to his phone to pause the music.

"Nah, I'll just call her tonight." 

I take a nap and when I wake up, we are pulling into the park. There is a huge sign with people waiting around to take a picture infront of it.

"We made it babe!!!!" Zach exclaims.

I yawn and pull out my phone as quickly as I can to take a picture of the grand entrance.

Once the camper is parked, we get our day bags ready to begin our hike. It's a bit cold today, so I put on my black Northface winter coat.

We start walking up a road that winds around the park when someones car starts speeding from the other direction. We faintly hear them shout something but can't quite make out what it is he was saying.

Next thing I know, there is a herd of bison running towards us in the distance. 

Zach and I move off the road and he starts taking a video. The sound of all of the hooves hitting the pavement almost soundes like thunder.

"Awww Zach look!!" I point to a smaller bison running right next to who I'm assuming is it's mom.

Zach puts his arm around me, we look up to the sun and both smile. No words even need to be said.

Once the bison pass, we continue our hike and soak up this beautiful scenery.

Later that night I decide to give my mom a call. She picks up on the second ring, I put it on speaker phone.

"Y/n?" she says excitedly.

"Yeah, it's me mom. What do you need to tell me?"

"Well sweetie, Steven and I have exciting news. We are pregnant!!" she exclaims over the phone.

Steven is her husband, she remarried when I turned 10. They had wanted a child together but eveyrone told her it was a bad idea because of her bipolar disorder. I guess since she's been going to therapy and taking her meds, she decided she would be stabel enoguh to have another child.

I turn to Zach who is as shocked as I am, the phone almost slips out of my hand.

There is a moment of silence before she speaks up. "Y/n, you still there?"

"Yup, yeah sorry I'm just um really surprised." tears start to fill my eyes.

I mute myself so I can talk to Zach.

"How come she gets to have a baby and I don't? I know I'm young, but this just feels so unfair." he wipes the tears from my cheeks.

"Zach I need to tell her," I say.

"Ok, I fully support that decision."

I unmute it, "um mom..." I start.

"Honey why aren't you excited for me?" she uses a harsh tone of voice causing me to feel anxious.

"I just can't believe you are having a baby, this is such odd timing."

"What are you talking about y/n?" she questions.

"Mom I had a miscarraige a little over a week ago." now I'm full on crying.

"You were pregnant?" she says quietly.

"Yes, and I lost my baby. So excuse me if I'm a bit frustrated that you happen to be pregnant." I hand the phone to Zach because I'm starting to get angry.

"Hey it's Zach, the baby topic is still very sensitive to us so she is just having a hard time wrapping her mind around this big news." Zach explained it perfectly.

"I'm so sorry for your loss." my mom says genuinly.

"Thank you" Zach says.

"Who else knows?" she asks.

"Just my mom, and now you." 

"Wow so y/n's dad doesn't even know?" I can almost hear her smiling as she said that.

I take a deep breath before Zach hands the phone back to the me.

"No I haven't told dad and don't plan to, so please don't tell anyone."

"You have my word sweetheart." she replies.

"Well mom, congradulations." I say trying to cheer up a bit.

"Thank you, I'll let you know when we find out the gender!!"

"Ok please do. Bye mom." I hang up the phone and toss it onto the bed.

The next day we hike around more and see the Old Faithful geyser. 

We waited half an hour for it to erupt, it shot up over 150 feet tall!!!! 

I had never seen anything like this before, it was incredible. We enjoyed the rest of the day walking around as much of the park as we could.

Tomorrow morning we have to leave early so that we can get to what will probably be my favorite stop!!

Stop 2, complete.

Time Frame: Arrive 12/28, spend all day 12/29, left on 12/30

A/N- sorry this update is later than normal, I've been pretty busy and wattpad has been glitching so I didn't want to risk writing a chapter that wouldn't get saved.
