The next morning my dad and I decide to get breakfast at one of our favorite diners.
The memories of life in Dallas keep on coming back.
Since Zach and I are leaving on Friday, I am really trying to enjoy every second I have here back home.
"Let's go to the zoo!!" My dad says spontaneously while we wait for our breakfast to be served.
I set my phone down. "Wait, what??" I ask excitedly.
"Yeah I mean we haven't gone since you were little, and you are growing up way too fast...so why not?"
I can't even remember the last time I was at the zoo. "Can the Herron's come too?"
"Of course, I bet Reese would love that." he says.
I text Zach and get a quick response.
Zach: The Dallas zoo is so cool, you're going to love it!! We can all drive in our van to save time with parking, meet us at my house in 30 minutes?
Me: I can't wait :)) Ok we'll be back home at 11:00am
We finish our food and leave the diner.
Reese is jumping up and down in excitement in the driveway when she sees us pull up.
I hop out of the car and jog over to her. "Hey Reese, ready for the zoo?!"
"I loooove the zoo!! We are going to see elephants, and penguins, and cheetahs, and seals." she exclaims.
Zach drives, and we drop off Myta, Reese, and my dad at the front entrance while the two of us find a parking spot.
The zoo is decked out with fall colors and reminds me of my childhood.
While on the way here, my dad pulled up a map of the zoo so we could form a plan on how to tackle this extravagant trip.
We spend 2 hours or so looking at the animals in the safari section. Next we decide to go to the marine animals...my favorite ones!!
Reese climbs up on a bench and I help lift her onto Zach's shoulders. Myta captures a perfect picture of us holding hands walking in the distance while Reese has the best view of the entire crowd.
There happened to be a dolphin show right when we got to the marine section.
"Can we have 5 volunteers to help feed the dolphins?" one of the trainers said into the microphone.
Reese raised her hand and happened to be chosen, this little girl has never smiled so big.
She "teaches" one of the dolphins how to jump up and she gets to feed them a dead fish.
The Dallas zoo is so cool!!!!
A few hours later we are finally done walking through majority of the zoo. We are all exhausted from a long hot day outside.
Reese falls asleep in the car on our way to a restaurant for dinner. We are going to Texas Roadhouse, I know...ironic right?
Our diner was delicious and a perfect way to end a night in Dallas with my family.
When we get home Zach and I decide to take a walk to the park right down the street.
"I can't believe we have to go back to LA tomorrow." Zach says.
"I'm not ready to leave, I didn't realize how much I missed Reese and my dad and the rest of our family."
"Well I mean, you finished your song so it's not like there's a huge rush for you to get back to LA unless you just want to come willingly." Zach replies.
I stop walking and look at him. "So you're saying that I could potentially stay in Dallas up until a week or so till tour?"
"Yeah I guess you could, I would miss you like crazy but yeah its possible."
We talk through it some more and Zach completely understands that it's hard for me to be away from my family. It wasn't as hard for him to adjust as it was for me because he had already lived with the other WDW boys away from home for a few months.
I decided I'm going to stay in Dallas until September 25th. Tour officially starts on October 2nd, so I will have enough time to get prepared.
Throughout the month of September:
While in Dallas I volunteer with Reese's music program.
I drive her to and from school and we get closer than we ever have been.
I FaceTime with Zach almost every single night and he updates me on how the other boys in the band are doing.
I miss him so much but I'm really enjoying the time I have here to relax and temporarily live a normal life.
I'm flying back out to LA tomorrow night.
A/N- so I have no clue what the Dallas zoo is like since I've never been, so you can just pretend the zoo actually has a dolphin show lol.
