Chapter Twenty-Seven: Things We Said Today

"You look like you're gonna be sick." Callie commented as soon as she saw me, joining me at the nurses' station. "Do one of the kids have something or?"
"Mark's checkup is today." I reminded her, running a hand through my hair as I did so. Today Mark had a doctor's appointment, a physical, that would determine whether or not he was ready to come back to work. "I guess I'm just a little nervous."
"It's awesome, right?" She smiled at me, eagerness clear in her eyes as she spoke. "First Arizona came back and now Mark might be back here next week, too."
"Awesome," I faked a smile.
"Hey," we both turned to see Bailey making her way towards us. At the sight of our fellow surgeon, Callie and I both smile.
"Duh, duh, duh-duh." We both started sing to her.
"Don't." She narrowed her eyes at us.
"Duh, duh, duh-duh. Duh, duh, duh-duh, duh." Callie and I kept it going only to earn an eye roll from the shorter woman before she turned to leave, clearly not in the mood for our teasing.
"All right, all right. All right." I held up my hands in defense, wishing I had a white flag at that moment.
"We'll stop. We'll stop." Callie agreed as Bailey made her way back over to us. "Jeez."
"When you two and Arizona get to the wedding tomorrow..." Bailey trailed off, waiting for us both to nod, showing her that we were listening. "Don't sit down."
"What do you mean, don't sit down?" Callie frowned, confused.
"Just find a place and stand there." Bailey instructed us.
"You want us to stand in the back?" I questioned. "What about Mark?"
"We won't be able to hear anything." Callie added.
"Stand in the damn front." Bailey swore.
"And block everyone's view?" Callie furrowed her brows. "I mean, if we're-"
"I dont- Just pick a spot." Bailey snapped at us, making my eyes widen. "You know, it's not complicated. Ugh! You know, people allow you two to open them up with a knife. If they knew you couldn't follow a simple instruction, they would run like the wind from this place."
"Are you- Are you trying to say, "Would you do me the honor of being my bridesmaids?"" Callie asked, connecting the dots while I felt my eyebrows shoot up to my hairline.
"Does the whole thing have to be about you?" Bailey rolled her eyes. "Just put on a dress and don't sit down."
"Aww. We're bridesmaids." I grinned, touched by the fact that Bailey would ask me to be one. After all, I could still remember her saying on my first day as an intern that she didn't like me and it wouldn't change.
"Oh, don't even-" Bailey was cut off by Callie pulling her into a hug, grinning ear to ear. "Ju... see? Ugh. This is what I was trying to avoid."
"Oh, you love us." I taunted her, not fazed by her words.

"Flowers, music... it's a recipe for disaster." April complained as she, Cristina, Meredith, and I sat in the cafeteria together for lunch.
"April, you're going to be fine. Don't worry about it." Meredith tried to assure the redhead.
"Oh, come on. Don't tell her she's gonna be fine." Cristina rolled her eyes. "You're gonna be looking all pretty, little bit of lip gloss on your prude-y little mouth. Jackson will spot her across the room. Try to look away, but he can't. You're irresistible in your dress. One drink, and you're doing the hippity-dippity in the coat room."
