Chapter Twenty-Six: I Was Made for Lovin' You

*~*~*~*

"Today is, uh, knee replacement day, right?" Bailey asked as she, Callie, and I made our way into the hospital.

"Had to cancel them." Callie shook her head. "We're meeting with our lawyers today about the crash."

"Oh, How's that going?" Bailey glanced between us.

"I'm out." I shook my head. "Since Mark was discharged he insisted that he cover his part in all of this, give him something to do while he's still banned from operating."

"Uh, I'm... not allowed to say." Callie sighed.

"All right. That's fine." Bailey nodded in understanding. "How's Arizona?"

"Not allowed to say." Callie chuckled.

"You." Bailey patted her on the back.

"Dr. Bailey. Here you go." A nurse handed Bailey some charts.

"She won't... see anyone." Callie told us. "Not even Mark. She won't even leave the house. Yeah, and... she's walking. She's even working with her prosthesis, but, you know, it has to be perfect. And I try to be encouraging, but then she tells me I'm pushing her."

"Tell her I say get her ass in here." Bailey said.

"Ditto to that." I nodded in agreement. "This new peds guy is an ass."

"Sweet," Callie chuckled. "Then she can be cranky and resentful to you two."

"You were supposed to tell me when Brian Danziger's labs came back." I glanced up from my computer to see Meredith scolding her intern for the day, Edwards.

"Oh, I thought I was supposed to tell Dr. Karev." Edwards said, only earning a glare from my blonde friend. "I should've told you, too. Uh, Brain Danziger's labs are back-"

"Get away from me." Meredith shooed her away.

"Oh, not fair. You are the scariest one." Cristina complained as she joined us at the nurses' station. I shook my head, a smile pulling at my lips, happy to see her friend back in Seattle. "That was always supposed to be me."

"You shouldn't have left." Meredith shrugged. "Beth's grown, too, meet scary attending number two."

"No!" Cristina's eyes widened at the news. "Baby Watley is all grown up?"

"Yep, I'm Wraith." I grinned.

"Wraith?" Cristina questioned the name.

"A ghost that someone sees before they die." I explained. "I like it, it's creative."

"I'll establish dominance." Cristina shrugged as she sat down in the chair next to me. "Maybe I'll use one of the classics."

"You could put one of them on rectal exams all day." I suggested, recalling what Bailey had done to Izzie on our first shift as interns. "That really stuck with Izzie."

"How was Owen?" Meredith asked, changing the subject.

"You mean Chief Hunt?" Cristina corrected her. "The husband formerly known as Owen is now just my employer. He gave me the orientation packet."

"Ouch." I winced as Alex came over, handing Meredith a chart.

"Um, Brian Danziger's sedated. His BPs down a little." Meredith pointed out.
