I woke up the next day and saw that Allana was not by my side again.
"Before you even think of pressing your button, you might want to look for me first."
She's here. She's up. She's safe.
" I wasn't going to press my button. Did you sleep well?"
I walked to her couch and kissed her forehead.
" No. "
" Why?"
" Will Bassingthwaighte called."
Who's Will Bassingthwaighte?
I frowned.
" She's Carmela's boyfriend? Remember?" She said to me while frowning.
" Of course. Why did he call?"
She exhaled and put a hand on her belly.
" She's asking my permission to propose to Carmela. "
" Why do you look so stressed? "
She sighed.
" Because I don't like his family. Not so good for Carmela. "
" Why is that? "
" Because of their company. And my theories against them. And their money. "
"What?"
" They're rich. But I think they're dirty rich."
"Maybe they're not. I mean dirty rich."
" I think that they maybe mafias or what ever."
" What did you say? "
" 'Are you going to ask every one in my family for the vote?' He said yes. And I said-' Well then, my vote is no.' "
" No? Just no? "
" Yes, just no. Then I hung up. "
" You don't really like him huh? "
" No. And every single cell and hairstrand found in my body agrees with me."
" Well, if they agree, then I'll agree too."
" Hey, you know, even before we've met personally, when my dad came home that night telling me the news, every single cell and their nuclei and every single hairstrand were happy, in fact overjoyed when they heard it, which made me say yes, eventually. "
I smiled.
" You know I love you right?" I said as I lean in and kiss her on the lips.
" I know. "
Suddenly the door opens, right in the middle of our kisses.
" Hey, hey, lovers! Good morning!" William.
Allana closed her eyes as I withrew.
" Thanks for barging in, dear brother. "
" Well, I could have knocked. But, I didn't feel like it. "
William. Typical William.
" What are you doing here? " says Allana.
" Well, the Trooping is within days and -"
Oh yeah, the Trooping.
I interrupted William, " We'll be there. "
William frowned.
"Well, you should be. "
Then he turned around and went to the door.
" I'll see you soon. " he says as he leaves the room.
" So, the Trooping is within reach. " Allana says, interrupting my train of thought.
" Yeah, I guess it is. "
I didn't have a train of thought.
