"What do you want?" I asked William.
And it's not William Wales-Cambridge!
Not what I was expecting.....
" Bassingthwaighte?" I said.
He stood up, bowing.
" Good evening, sir."
I frowned.
" What do you want?"
He pulled out 2 ivory envelopes from his coat pocket and handed it to me.
" What's this?"
He swallowed.
" The invitation to my wedding."
I frowned again, and turned around and went back upstairs.
Sofina came in running through the halls.
" Sir?" she said panting.
" Why didn't you check which William?"
" Sir,I.."
" You what?! " I'm raising my voice now.
" I.."
I stormed out of the halls and went to my room.
" He.. you look mad." Allana said.
I handed her the envelopes.
" Wha... Crap.."
She stood up and threw one invitation on the fireplace.
"I'm guessing that wasn't Willy the Wombat." she says.
" Yes."
" September 14th."
" What?" I asked.
" They're getting married on September 14th."
" A day before my birthday?"
" I'd rather celebrate your birthday than her wedding."
Allana's phone rang.
"I'll put this on speaker phone. It's Carmela" she said to me
She picked up the call.
" What do you want Carmela?" she said.
" Will came over."
"And?"
" He gave out the invitations!"
"You sound excited."
" Well, you don't!"
" Trust me, I am thrilled."
" The wedding's in 2 weeks!"
" And you gave the invitations now?"
"Yeah!"
" Uh, I think, Harry and I couldn't c-"
" Cancel it! It's my day!"
"Well, you didn't come to Brad's, so.."
Allana mouthed "Help me"on me.
I nodded.
" Carms, I'm putting Harry on the phone. "
"Hi!" she said.
" Well, uh, congratulations, Carmela."
" Thanks!"
" We have something to do in the morning of the wedding day, but we'll try to follow after the wedding ceremony? The reception. "
" Okay. Just be there. See you soon."
"Goodbye." Allana said.
"Am I on speakerphone?"
"Bye."
We hung up.
" We'll try. But not that hard. " Allana said.
" You really don't wanna go to that wedding."
" Yes. And I don't wanna be photographed in that wedding. "
My phone beeped. I checked it.
Dang it!
" I'm sorry dear, but, we have to go to that wedding."
" What?" Allana raised her eyebrows.
" Publicity."
" What about the fucking publicity?"
" We have to be seen in that wedding."
" W.." she frowned.
She stood up and left the room.
And banged the door.
Now she's angry at me too.
Great!
Just what I needed.
It's all I ever needed.
Insert sarcasm.
