Ball Dresses and Bar Stools
"How did I get here?" I asked, staring at the long racks of ball gowns.
"We drove on the highway" Eloise replied, running her fingers down a satin black dress.
I rolled my eyes. "I know how we got here, I'm just wondering why the hell I am" I said gazing at the array of dresses.
"You said you needed something fancy for a ball your mother's dragging you to, so here we are" Eloise said.
I sighed. "Maybe I should just tell her to shove it up her ass" I said, shaking my head.
Her being Lukas Paxton.
"I really don't think that's a good idea, A" Eloise replied.
"Can I help you ladies?" A voice asked coming up behind us.
I turned my head to see a petite woman with auburn hair tied up into a loose bun. She smiled at me gently, before her eyes raked over us. "I'm looking for a high class society dress, that screams I'm totally worth it but not too much" I replied.
Her smile widened. "Oh and it has to be gold" I added.
She bowed her head. "Follow me" she said.
I gave Eloise a weird look before she shrugged and we followed after the shop assistant. She led us to a rack further back in the store.
The racks here screamed expensive but I shook it off. I had my mother emergency money card. The kind of card she told me to spend on good clothes.
The assistant was ruffling through the racks, searching for something. "Ah!" She said suddenly, surprising Eloise and I.
She pulled a gold dress out of the rack and held it up. Eloise gasped. "You have to get that one" Eloise said, her hand against her mouth.
I'll admit. It was gorgeous. It was like a cream net underneath the gold lace like top. It trailed a bit in the floor but it was utterly gorgeous.
It covered the body half, making all the important parts invisible but it left small parts of the cleavage and back bare. The gold trailed down the dress to the parts where your knees would be before stopping.
"The room would definitely stop to see you dance in that" Eloise said.
I gulped.
Yes, I would definitely draw attention. Something I don't want to do.
But for some reason my mouth did not obey my reasonable thoughts. "I'll take it" I said.
The assistant nodded and walked towards the counter. Eloise gripped my arm. "You are going to look so beautiful!" She squealed.
"Thanks" I replied before I felt my phone buzz.
I fished it out of my pocket as I handed my credit card over to the lady.
I tapped the screen and scrunched my eyebrows together.

This is my number. Please save it to your phone. So I can update you on ball arrangements.

I stared at the phone and looked up to grab my card and bag. "Thank you" I said, shutting my phone off.
But it buzzed again.

If you do not answer me. I'll take that as a sign that our deal is off.
