Coffee, Cheeseburgers and Front doors

"Kaiyan, can I speak to you?" I asked, walking up behind him.

He had been talking to a girl and she glanced at me, irritated. He ignored me, but I was persistant. "I won't go away unless you do" I said.

He sighed, turning around to face me. "What do you want?" He asked as the girl walked away.

"What you saw means absolutely nothing, Lukas was just being well Lukas" I said, looking him in the eyes.

"I don't care" he said, rolling his eyes.

"You say you don't and honestly it's up to you if you do or not, I'm telling you that there's nothing going on between Lukas and I" I said before turning on my heel and walking away.

"Avery" his voice called out.

I stopped and turned my head to look at him. "Feel like skipping school?" He asked, tilting his head.

"What are we doing here?" I asked as Kaiyan pulled into the parking lot of the dining restaurant he had taken me too.

"Getting food" he replied, shooting me a weird look.

I climbed out of his sleek black car and closed the door with a snap as he strode towards the door. I hurried after him and caught the door before it closed. "Kaiyan, do you want to tell me what we're doing?" I asked, falling into step with him.

"Getting cheeseburgers" he replied.

I sighed as he placed the order and he told me to find a table. I wandered over to the table we had sat at last time, sliding into the cold plastic. Watching Kaiyan pay, I saw his eyes dart over to mine before looking away.

He slid into the seat opposite me and drummed his fingers on the table. I stayed silent before the silence killed me.

"Okay seriously, why'd you want me out of school?" I asked, getting frustrated.

"I needed to talk to you without the distraction of Lukas" Kaiyan said, not meeting my eyes.

"Lukas isn't a distraction, but I'm here so start talking" I said, crossing my arms.

Kaiyan sighed and ran a hand through is already unruly black hair. He was nervous, I could see that much. "Just spill it out" I exclaimed.

"I was jealous" he said.

I raised my eyebrows, leaning back in my seat. I turned my head away to look out the clear glass window, watching the cars roll by.

"I saw him kiss you and I didn't even want to hit him, I just wondered why that wasn't me" he said.

I snapped my head to look at him again, noticing the service coming with our food.
"When we hung out, I thought you were having a great time, I thought you were feeling what I was feeling" he said before stalling as the guy placed food on our table.

He left with a smile and Kaiyan picked up a fry, dangling from his fingers like you would a cigarette. I still didn't say anything because I knew he wasn't finished. "And I saw that you didn't pull away and I felt.." He trailed off.

"Cheated" he finished.

He ate the fry, still not looking at me.
I frowned. "Lukas wanted me to be his fake girlfriend so he could get his father off his back, I agreed because my mother was also pressuring me, I didn't know you at the time" I said.
