Jealous boys and new best friends

Eloise's bed was still empty as I got dressed for the day. I frowned worriedly. She always came home after a party, it was very unlike her to not to. I picked up my phone and sent a quick message to her, wondering if she was okay.

I had just slipped my leather jacket on when someone knocked on my dorm door. I grabbed my phone and slipped it into my back pocket of my jeans and walked over to the door. I shot another look at her empty bed and pulled the door open.

"Kaiyan? What brings you here so early in the morning?" I asked surprised, as the door opened to reveal the black haired boy.

He looked a little caught in the headlights and his body was turned as if he was about to walk away. "I uh just wanted to know if you wanted to hang out, cause it's Saturday and I'm bored" he said quickly and smiling.
I laughed. "Yeah sure, I was just heading down to the coffee shop because I really need coffee" I said, grinning.

His smile widened. "Cool if I join?" he asked, nodding his head in the direction of the stairs.

I rolled my eyes. "Of course" I said as he moved away from the doorway.

I stepped out into the hallway, closing the door behind me. "How'd you sleep?" he asked, walking beside me as we descended the stairs.

"Oh good, surprisingly better than other nights" I replied, glancing at him.

I jumped off the last step and walked to the dorm house door. I pushed it open, sunlight streamed onto my skin and I smiled up at the sun. That's when I noticed the black clouds. "Looks like it's going to rain later" I said, looking at Kaiyan.

He nodded. "I heard it on the radio, a thunderstorm is suspected for tonight" he said, smiling back at me.

We crossed the courtyard and lawn together and lingering students stared at us. Kaiyan chatted aimlessly with me and I laughed. He pushed open the cafe door and walked towards a seat, I followed suit. "What do you want?" he asked as I sat down.

"Hmm I'm really feeling a cappuccino" I said, digging in my purse.

I lifted my hand to give him some money, he politely refused. "Hey!" I exclaimed.

He shook his head. "No way, I'm not letting you buy" he asked, moving away from the table.

I grabbed his arm. "You brought me food last night, at least let me buy you a coffee?" I asked, practically begged staring up at him.

He sighed and took the money. Happy, I settled back in my seat. My phone buzzed.

Lukas:
I can see you with my best friend. What did we talk about?

Avery:
I've saved your number idiot, you can stop with your initials.
And like I told you, I like hanging out with Collin and Kaiyan.

Lukas:
I doubt they just want to hang out with you.

Avery:
Bite me. Leave me alone, I'm having a nice enjoyable coffee with my new bff Kaiyan.

Lukas:
I will not hesitate to come over there.

Avery:
And ruin your perfectly crafted image?
I'd like to see you try. :)

Lukas:
This isn't over.

Avery:
Bye 👋
