Bad News, Ball Antics and Serious Relationship Problems
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked, leaning on the door as Lukas stood in front of my Dorm room.
I could hear Hunter and Eloise sniggering inside. "I'd like you to come to my masquerade ball" Lukas asked again.
I was a little shocked. "Doesn't your father hate me?" I asked, tilting my head.
"But I don't" he replied, not answering my question.
"That's not an answer" I stated.
"Who gives a flying fuck what my father thinks, its my party and I want my gir-" he froze, shock covering his face.
"Just come" he said after sighing.
"Okay, as long as I can bring two other people" I said, half smiling.
Lukas raised a perfectly arched eyebrow. "Eloise and her boyfriend" I replied.
"Connor's already been invited" Lukas said as if he didn't just break my best friends heart.
I cringed when I heard 'ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!' yelled from what only could be Eloise's mouth.
Lukas looked like a deer caught in the headlights. "Okay, I'll come" I said over Eloise's raging. He smiled gently and moved forward. Surprised, I pressed against the door and he leant down and kissed me on the forehead. Then he turned on his heel. "It's tomorrow!" He exclaimed before disappearing down the stairs.
I took a deep breath before opening my door. Eloise was about to break a photograph of my father when I scolded her. "Don't you touch that fucking photo Eloise Bloom! Now you calm down or I'll force you on the ground!" I exclaimed.
She took a deep breath. "Thanks" she said, pressing a hand to her heart.
A knock sounded at the door and I turned around, throwing it open. Connor stood on the other side with a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolate. Eloise looked up and her eyes widened.
Suddenly feeling like I was intruding, I gestured to Hunter to follow me. Connor's eyes followed us as I mouthed 'good luck' to him.
Last thing I heard was "You son of a bitch".Hunter walked with me down the stairs and we walked out into the sunshine and I could just see Lukas climbing into his car. Students lounged on the grass, books in their hands as they soaked up the sunshine.
"So you and Lukas, I honestly thought it wasn't going to happen" Hunter said, glancing at me.
"It isn't happening, he's just being friendly" I replied instantly.
Hunter snorted. "Oh hon, he's totally hot for you, I mean who delivers a ball invite by hand when they can just send you a text these days?" Hunter asked, grinning.
"Oh shut up!" I exclaimed.
He laughed. "You know, coming from a boy's prospective, he's a lot braver than I was" Hunter said, shaking his blonde head.
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
"I treated Jamie like crap in the three years leading up to our graduation, ignored her, pretended we hadn't been friends for years" he replied.
