Trust Issues and Kind Words

"Thanks again for agreeing to drive me home" I said as Kaiyan led me away from the party.

"Don't worry about it, I'd rather you get home safely" he said, pulling something out of the pocket of his black jacket.

A car lights flashed and I admired the Volvo. "I didn't think you owned a car" I said, smiling.

Kaiyan gave me a look before opening my door. I climbed in with his help and he closed the door. Seconds later, he was sliding into his seat and starting the car.

"You hungry?" He asked.

I looked at him. "You didn't eat anything and its only like 7:30" he replied.

"Oh sure, is it really that early.. Oh no I'm taking you away from the party" I said as he drove.

He let out a snort which caused my eyebrows to go up before laughing. "The only exciting thing that happened at that party was dancing with you" he said, glancing at me.

I felt the blush creep into my cheeks. "You're not a bad dancer" I complimented him.

"Neither are you" he retorted.

I giggled. "What do you feel like?" He asked.

He was talking about food and I thought about it for moment. "I'm wearing an expensive dress my mother brought.. Hmm I could go for a really big cheeseburger" I said turning my head to look at Kaiyan.

His mouth turned up into a smile. My eyes roamed across his face as I realised with a jolt, this was the third time he's saved my ass, probably more. "Do you really hate your mother, that much?" He asked.

"Sometimes" I replied, looking down at my folded hands.

"Sorry" he said, glancing at me.

I just shook my head and shrugged. "I know where you can get the best cheeseburgers" he said, changing the subject.

"Oh yeah, they have to be good" I said, suddenly smiling.

I was glad he changed the subject. "They are the best, trust me" he said shooting me a wink.

"Gonna be hard for someone who has trust issues" I replied, still smiling.

"They're so juicy and simply delicious, and I know the cook personally" he said.

"Oo sounds fancy" I replied.

He laughed. "Let's listen to some music" he said, his hand reaching over to the stereo at the same time mine did.

Our fingers touched and an electric shock ran up my arm. I don't know if Kaiyan felt anything like that, he didn't show it.

I put my hands back in my lap, letting him flick through the radio stations before settling. He started humming the song before belting out the chorus. I looked over at him, laughing.

He looked at me, singing to me as he reached his hand out in a gesture only to focus back on the road. I had a hard time keeping my laughter inside.
