Fire, Moving Out and Prince Charming

Just as I was about to say my answer, a fire alarm blared out in the building.
My eyes went wide and grabbed for my school bag, shoving my laptop, phone and photo album in it. "Lukas! Grab my jewelry box!" I exclaimed.

He quickly grabbed it and I turned around in my room, looking to see if I could rescue anything else. I didn't have time before Lukas was dragging me out into the hallways and everyone was stampeding down the stairs.

Bruises would cover my arms tomorrow, the amount of elbows that hit me was astounding. We fell out into the cool air gathering on the grass as we watched flames flicker at the top of the building.

I realised with a sad jolt, I hadn't tried to save any of Eloise's things.
Lukas stood next to me, looking up. His eyes reflected the blaze as he wrapped a protective arm around my waist.

I looked at him. I was going to lose my home but somehow I knew I'd find a new one. I was still very mad at him for abandoning me for three months but as he pulled me to his chest, I forgave him.

"Thank you" I said.

He turned his head to look down at me. "Is there anywhere you can go?" He asked, his thumb briefly touching chin.

"My aunt's" I replied, my head turning to look at the building on fire.

"You should come live with me" he said, before my head turned quickly to look at him.

"I can't, your dad lives there and he doesn't like me" I replied.

"Besides! Why would I want to live with you?" I added, moving out of his arms and folding them.

If Lukas was hurt, he didn't show it. Instead, he just stepped closer and cupped my cheek. "Who cares about him and I want you to stay with me, it'll give me plenty of chances to make it up to you" he replied.

His finger was lightly drawing squiggles on my cheeks. I was perfectly okay with staying with my aunt. I mean, all of my clothes are there anyway... But looking up into Lukas's eyes, I felt my resolve slowly dissolving.

"Okay" I said slowly.

His mouth curved up into a small smile. "Somehow I knew you'd say yes" he replied, tilting his head.

I watched a stray black curl fall into his face. "Really? How did you know that?" I asked, trying to fold my arms again.

He leant down until his mouth was hovering just above mine. "Because you like me too much" he replied.

I huffed. "You're very cocky, you know th-" I was saying before I was cut off by a gentle kiss.

It surprised the hell out of me. I knew he'd kiss me but I didn't think it would be a soft gentle kiss. It felt like touching a marshmallow to your lip. He pulled back and rested his forehead on mine. "Come on princess, let me take you home" he said, taking my hand and taking a step back.

My heart was jumping and flipping, I felt butterflies in my stomach. He was being so gentle and kind when we had been yelling at each other only moments ago. "Such a Prince Charming" I replied, smiling.

We were walking towards his car and he shot a wink my way. "Only for you, my princess" he replied.

My heart flipped again. We walked hand in hand away from the fire. I pulled out my phone from my page and dialled Eloise.
It took a good half hour to explain everything to her.
