Long Weeks, Hallways and Ignoring

Lukas didn't speak to me the next day. Or the day after that. Or the day after that.
Eventually the days turned into weeks and I would look across the cafeteria and watch him sit by himself.

Several times, I tried to to talk to him, to just say hello and all those times, he ignored me and walked away.

Weeks turned into a month and I was losing my mind. Eloise called it "Lukas Withdrawals" and I had half a mind to agree with her.

I finally gave up. I stopped texting, I stopped calling and I stopped trying to talk to him at school. What was the point?

Collin and Eloise pitied me which only made me feel worse. Although, Collin had become my new adventure buddy. When Eloise was with Connor and neither of us had studying we were four-wheel driving at the back of his parents place.

They lived close to the Glassdale forest and the mountains that snowed during winter. Right now, we had rain for a couple of days and the ground was muddy. So Collin and I were in the buggies, getting dirty.

Than his mother would cook us dinner before we headed back to Campus. One day, it was storming crazy outside and his mother wouldn't let us leave.

"Absolutely not! No child of mine is driving in this weather, please just stay the night Collin, it'll do you a world of good" his mother bossed, sounding very English.

"Well I'll head back to the Campus, so I'll see you tomorrow" I said, smiling at Collin after laughing.

"Oh no! You're not going either! Absolutely not! Your mother should be shot for letting you drive in such weather" Jacqueline said, huffing.

My eyes widened. "Please, that's not necessary, besides I don't have anything.." I trailed off.

"Nonsense, I'll give you a few things. Collin, with you stop looking like a stop sign and show the lady to the guest room" his mother said snapping him back into life.

He grimaced. "I'm not a stop sign mother, come on Avery" he said after narrowing his eyes at his mother.

She did it back and then poked out her tongue. Collin rolled his eyes. I held my laughter in until we had reached the stairs and started to climb. "Is she always like that?" I asked, glancing at the now familiar face.

"Mostly, normally she doesn't take to girls I bring home, but she loves you" he replied, glancing at me before looking away.

"How can you not?" I asked joking.

"You can't" he replied.

I didn't quite know what to say. "Here's the guest room, bathroom joins it and I'm sure Mom will have the clothes laid out on the bed after you shower" he said, smiling before leaving the room.

I nodded and closed the door. I showered and as foretold, clothes were set out for me. They fit perfectly and I dressed before making my way back downstairs.
"Collin is in the lounge" Jacqueline said as soon as she saw me.

Then, her eyes lit up. "That look very beautiful on you, you should keep it" she said, smiling.

"Oh I couldn't" I replied,  reaching for the strap.
