A little peace before the storm

Lukas's POV

My hands clenched into a fist when Avery pulled away to look at her phone. I saw the name on it and almost grabbed the phone to throw it at a wall.

He was always ruining whatever time I had with Avery. I didn't even know what started this fight in the first place.
He had lied to her and in that time, in fact that whole time I knew I felt something towards her.

From the moment she told me to fuck off.

She sighed and stowed her phone back into her pocket. "You're not going to answer it?" I asked, rather surprised.

Avery, however gave me a confused look. "Why would I care what he wants, it probably just another attempt towards me" she replied, stepping back.

I felt her warmth disappear immediately. I almost wanted to pull her back, in fact I did. She made a noise of surprise before looking up at me through her eyelashes. "Don't let him get to you Avery" I said softly.

I was getting addicted to her. Dangerously addicted.

"He doesn't Lukas, I only care about who I do love, Eloise, Hunter, Jamie, my aunt, Collin.." She trailed off.

I knew she could see that my jaw locked on its own. "You" she added before giving me a small smile.

My hands gripped her waist, pulling her closer than I could ever thought I could. She giggled lightly before raising her hands to rest them on my shoulders. We started to sway again as I stared into her eyes.

I had never felt so at peace. Not since my mother's death. "What are you thinking about?" She asked, tilting her head.

Strands of her brown hair fell in her face and I lifted a hand to tuck it behind her ear. "I'm thinking about you" I replied.

She blushed. "Really? What about me?" She asked, a sly smile creeping up onto her face.
"I'm thinking how beautiful you are and how happy you make me" I replied, truth behind every word.

She leaned up on her tippy toes and pressed her lips to mine. I responded enthusiastically, moving to bury my hands in her hair. She gave a short groan, the kiss going deeper.

We pulled away from each other at the same time before kissing again, one hand caressed her cheek before I felt her hand fumble for my shirt buttons. I reached for her hands, stopping them and pulling away.

"As much as I really would like too, I know you're hungry and I happen to be an excellent cook" I said, touching her chin with my thumb.

She grinned shyly. "I am kinda hungry" she said shrugging.

I took her hand and led her out of the bathroom and down the stairs into the kitchen.

She sat down on one of the stools, while I walked to the fridge. I pulled things out while beginning to cook for her. She watched me with her light eyes and started to laugh.

I was at the stove and turned to look at her with an eyebrow raised. She saw me looking and it only made her laugh more. "What's so funny?" I asked, tilting my head.

"Never in a million years would I have thought I would be doing this" she said gesturing to the stool and the space between us.

"Why?" I asked, half curious.

"I hated males, thought they were a waste of time" she replied still giggling.

I flipped over the omelette. "And now?" I asked, looking at her again.
