Got a secret, can you keep it?
There were four types of people at parties;
The ones who show up to get drunk, the ones who were actually invited, the ones who just showed up, then you have my type.
The ones who were dragged there by your friends.Eloise stood on my left while Lukas lingered behind me, his hand barely touching the small of my back. My eyes darted around the crowd and the ring on my finger felt heavy. Lukas and I were only 20, knew each other for three quarters of the year and now we were engaged.
I felt like a silly little girl, chasing a dream but I knew it was reality. I knew Lukas Paxton had proposed to me and he had slid the ring on my finger. After Lukas had left to get some food, I immediately called Eloise and told her. She had freaked out over the phone for a good half and hour before finally calming down enough to ask what the ring looked like. I had sent her a photo which made her freak out more for another half and hour. In that time, Lukas had come back and I put her on loudspeaker while Lukas and I ate.
Next, I had called my Auntie. She was a lot cooler with it, except she threatened to rip Lukas's face off he decided he didn't want to marry me. I gave Lukas an apologetic smile while he looked at the phone terrified. I wanted to tell my mother and I had expressed this to my Aunt, I could see her shaking her head.
"Honey, I think you two should just stay away from each other, if you'd like, I can pass on the news but everything that's going wrong with her pregnancy she's blaming you"my aunt said.
We talked for a few minutes more before I told her I loved her and we hung up.
Which led to Eloise knocking on our door and us being dragged to a party. I snuck a glance at Lukas while his dark eyes searched the rooms, probably looking for potential threats. No one seemed to mind us as we pushed our way into the party, except when Collin showed up in front of us. "What are you guys doing here?" he asked, a red cup in his hand.
His black hair was raked back and a lipstick mark on his cheek, looking at it made me sick. It would be so easy to fall for Collin Saski's charms. Hell, I did for a little while. His English accent and good looks would only make it worse fro the other guys, he could've belonged in One Direction or something and be the hottest in the band. (Sorry Harry and Zayn)
"I've been dragged here" I replied, lifting my hand to tuck some hair behind my ear.
His eyes followed it, a look of shock and anger? on his face. I looked down at my hand confused and realised why. I closed my eyes briefly before opening them and looking at Collin. "Is that what I think it is?" he asked, his hand crushing the red cup and spilling all the contents on the floor.
"Yes it is" Lukas replied, when I failed to do so.
Collin's eyes darted to mine and I opened my mouth to say something but he turned around and shoved past some dancers, disappearing into the crowd. I looked down at my feet, very self conscious. "Why don't you go ahead Eloise?" Lukas asked, taking a hold of my arm.
Eloise looked at me, confirming and I just nodded. She too disappeared into the crowd while Lukas pulled me away from the music, back outside in the cold air. I wrapped my arms around myself as I followed him. Suddenly, he stopped.
"Are you in doubt?" he asked, standing underneath a lamppost.
"What?" I asked confused.
"The ring Avery, are you rethinking your answer?" he asked, crossing his arms.
