Lukas's POV
If Glassdale was good for anything, it was the full moon festival on the Spring equinox.
The town was preparing for the big dance in the streets, where everyone comes together to dance, eat and simply enjoy the party.Roads were blocked off and I barely made it through the big crowd that surged in. My impatience was wearing thin as they continued to block my car.
My father had forced me yet again, out of the house and into town. Insisting I needed to 'get to know everyone'.
There was only one person I trusted in this town, well not anymore.
The full moon festival was definitely big here, the one place you can hide your face behind a mask and become someone else. I parked my car, struggling to get out of my car as trucks rolled by, bringing in wood for the fires that would be lit at 6.
They would burn all night as people danced around them. I walked into the mask shop, it was crowded of last minute buyers and I picked out a silver basic one. I paid and left, not liking the cramped feeling.
The party would start soon as dusk was falling quickly. I had spent most of the day by the lake. I couldn't handle being around anyone. Not after saying goodbye. To her.
I pushed her from my mind as I straightened my suit. People were pulling their masks on and I did the same.
Women glanced at me before looking again. I was used to the attention. With my crisp black suit, silver mask and messy black hair, I probably looked dangerous. Women loved dangerous.
Restaurants were starting to fill up and I just wandered the streets.
The sky went dark and that's when the fun began. Three big bonfires sat in the middle of the town.
Start MusicA blonde woman grabbed my hand, her purple mask glinted in the firelight. All the lights had been shut down, we were purely in firelight.
She pulled me into the crowd of dancers, rubbing her body against mine.I wasn't really into it but I had nothing better to do. Men, women alike were dancing. Not giving a care in the world.
That's when I saw her through the smoke.A short lacy black dress, black heels and a lace black mask. The fire flickered across her skin, washing her in a golden light.
Her red haired friend stood next to her, holding onto some blonde haired man.My eyes traveled up her long legs and finished at her face. She was smiling before some random person pulled her into the crowd.
I found myself, shadowing her. The man grabbed her hips and she didn't complain. My jaw tightened.
