Dreams, Danger and Dad Jokes
My eyes slowly opened as I felt a pain in my neck. I slowly turned my head to crack it when Lukas's face swam in my vision. I sat up slowly and looked down at my hand. The ring was sitting snug on my finger, telling me it was all but a dream.
I frowned and lifted my hand to place some hair behind my ear as I gazed down at the ring.
It was beautifully crafted and it shone in the morning light that streamed through the window. "What are you doing?" Lukas's husky morning voice said, startling me.I looked over at him and he had his eyes lidded but he was watching me. "Just looking" I replied, lifting my head to show the ring.
He sat up too, the blanket falling into his lap and showing off his bare chest. I looked up into his eyes and he reached for my hand and kissed the top.
"It suits you" he said, smiling."You're just happy because no man can touch me now" I replied, bumping my shoulder with his.
His smile broke out into a grin. "You know me so well" he said, before lightly kissing me.
I kissed him back before he slid out of bed, sitting on the edge and pulling some pants on. "Hungry?" He asked over his shoulder.
"Always" I replied truthfully.
He stood up and kissed me again before walking out of the room, leaving me still sitting in bed. I sighed, content and looked out the bright window. It was such a beautiful day.
But something bothered me. The dream.
I had left Lukas for Collin and I couldn't understand why. Was I feeling guilty?I climbed out of bed and dressed, my usual underwear and a T-shirt with shorts. I padded downstairs and into the kitchen, the smell of amazing food beckoning to me like a love spell.
"Smells great" I said, walking through the door.
"Pancakes" he replied, turning around and putting some on a plate.
He slid it across the bench before leaning over and pursing his lips. I rolled my eyes and pecked them before sliding into the stool. "You're rather cheerful today" I said, grinning.
He watched me as I poured syrup onto his masterpieces. "Maybe that's because the love of my life said yes to being my fiance" he replied, still watching as I took a bite.
I moaned in delight before chewing. "Why don't you do a course in cooking and become a chef, honestly" I said, swallowing and looking at him.
"I'm content enough with just cooking for you" he replied, turning back to the pan.
"I'm thirsty- do we have any orange juice?" I asked, tilting my head.
"Hi thirsty, I'm Lukas- and yes we do" he replied, moving over to the fridge.
"I'll get it!" I exclaimed standing up quickly.
Suddenly, pain hit my stomach and I fell forward with a scream. "Avery!" Lukas yelled, surprised and worried.
I lay on the ground, my nose pressed to the marble floor as I tried to breathe. Lukas rolled me over. "Are you okay?" He asked, brushing my hair away from my face.
