It's dark
Very dark
So dark that you cannot see anything inches away from you.
You lie in your bed, unable to sleep due to stress or what have you. So you stare at what is the ceiling.
You think over your day like normal. Until you remember something peculiar your friend told you.
Telling stories to pass the time. And you recall your friend giving quite the realistic story, the subject, however, very ridiculous. They told the story of what happened to them last year. How they received a visit from something very frightening. Scarring, that they can't forget how much it had impacted how they sleep at night and how much alone time they spend in the dark. You listened keenly, not believing a single word but growing rather...concerned at how their voice quivered, how hard they let out each breath as they found the ability to speak difficult. Their body engulfed in violent shivers to the point where they must stop and compose themselves. Ultimately they did not continue the story and that made you wonder. What the heck did they see?
Shrugging the whole thing off your group decided to part ways. Letting your friend accompany another on the way back home. They stopped suddenly, letting out a small shriek as they begun to realize something. You listen in on their whispering words, not picking up on their incoherent mumbling. But you hear something along the lines of, "It's the same day this year...it's coming back...must leave..." then that's the end of what you caught as your other friend ushered them back home. They gave out a quick good bye and were on their way. Meanwhile two people started whispering between themselves, of how the story seemed familiar and whether it could be true. You could only scoff as how they would believe in such stories.
So you ventured by yourself on the way home forgetting the whole ordeal. Along with everything you should have remembered from their story.
Now you lay in your bed recalling the details in small chunks. The story of a wretched creature, a combination of man and....what was it? It was a mammal you remember but, it's just not coming to you. Suddenly you feel thirsty, going hours without a drink. You left the bed, and sluggishly went downstairs. Of course you were not foolish enough to leave the lights off. But you can't help but get a strange feeling as you glanced out the windows, peering into the night. A sudden shiver coursed through your body and you wonder...what the hell? So quickly you grabbed your drink.
You jump as you felt something brush near you.
What was that?
A whisper? A hiss?
That's what you hear as you stood very still, not moving a single inch. Now becoming suspicious you finally geared your head around, only to find nothing. A relief spreads upon you but it's short lived as you spot something.
Something glowing?....way out into your yard. You trust your instincts as you fled, leaving all the lights on downstairs but escaping to your bed. You hid under the covers like a child as a million thoughts raced into your mind. Then the words pop up, the same exact from your friend's story. The mention of glowing orbs in their yard, feeling like they were looking at you. A deep fear penetrated your mind and your only thought was to hide under the covers praying that this isn't the same 'thing' your friend saw.
A very hopeless case.
Because then...
There was a loud BANG, and a pattern of banging footsteps that seemed to be approaching your room fast.
There wasn't much options so, the irrational fear told you to hid.
And that was your mistake.
Then you remember your friend mentioning to leave something out on this specific day. Why couldn't you hear them?
Too late...
Cause out in the darkness, the glowing eyes peer at you. And you hear the sounds of soft mooing in the distance.
-End
(This is the worst thing I've ever written I'm so sorry.)
