31. Broken Crystals (Angst)

So I found this one shot that I wrote during school but left it somewhere in my room, I hope you like it!

(Joey's POV)

As I was playing with Lark, I heard a loud crash coming from inside the house before Daniel ran outside "Joey, you need to see what Wolf did" I pick up Lark before following Daniel inside. My jaw dropped as I saw one of my crystals smashed on the floor, it was my jade crystal. "Wolf did this?" Daniel nods but I was very skeptical, Wolf was outside fighting with Storm when the crystal was smashed. "Daniel, did you smash it?" Daniel's eyes widened "no, of course not!" I sighed, shaking my head before heading to the closet, Lark curled up against my chest. "Joey!" I don't turn around, instead, I grab the broom, sadly sweeping up the broken crystal on the floor. Daniel put his hand on my shoulders "Joey, I swear it wasn't me" I know Daniel would never do something like this so I believed him. I went back outside with Lark and Daniel, the broken crystal forgotten.

A couple days pass before another incident happened. Again I was cuddling with Lark, Storm curled up on my legs and Wolf somewhere with Daniel. A loud crash made me jump as did Lark, who was sleeping soundly. "Joey! Come here!" Lark and Storm follow me as I ran to the foyer where another crystal was shattered, it was one of my Azurite ones. "Daniel! Who did this?" He looks at me "it was Wolf!" I scoff "Wolf knocked off a crystal that was in the middle of a table?" "Well it wasn't me!" I shake my head "I want you to clean this up!" Turning on my heel, I went back to the living room, falling onto the couch with a heavy sigh.

The last straw came two days after the second incident. Lark was asleep on my chest as I was on my phone. Lark jumps awake as a loud crash is heard "Daniel I swear to God if that was another crystal!" "Come here!" Grabbing my little princess, we go to the kitchen where Daniel was standing, a shattered crystal a few feet away from him. I put Lark on the counter "are you kidding me Daniel!?" Daniel looks at me "it wasn't me!" "Wolf is in the other room with your mother! Storm is outside! Daniel, it was you! Every time a crystal 'mysteriously' fell, you hit it off the counter!"  I couldn't believe this! "Joey, I swear on my life I didn't do it!" "If one more crystal falls, we're done!"

Weeks go by without crystals breaking and I apologized to Daniel for accusing him. But, when I was in my room, I heard a familiar loud crash coming from downstairs "Joey! Come down here!" Jumping off my bed, I ran down, thinking something had happened to Lark, Wolf, Storm, or even Daniel. When I made it to the kitchen, Lark was in her crate, Wolf and Storm were laying on the floor in front of the couch. I knew what it was a second later, a broken crystal. Looking at Daniel, he was sweeping up a shattered crystal from the floor. "Are you serious? Again Daniel?!" He tried to tell me it wasn't him again but I didn't believe "you know how important crystals are to me! Why would you break them? You know what Daniel, we're done. I'm gonna go stay with a friend for awhile" heading up to pack my stuff, Daniel runs after me. "Joey! I'm so sorry! Let me explain!"  "Leave me alone!"

Standing at the door, I kiss all my dogs on the head before looking at Daniel with a glare "I'll be back in three days, if there's anymore broken crystal, I'll leave and never return!" "Joey please, just let me explain" "fine, why did you break my crystals" "I was moving them to make room for something and my wrist would hit the ones closest to the edge causing them to fall. I would never break your most prized possessions on purpose" "what were you making room for?" "It's hard to explain" I roll my eyes "well if you can't fully explain why you broke my crystals, I'm leaving."

My new friend Alx James invited me to stay with him for the three days "thank you so much Alx, I just didn't know who else to call" he smiles "no I'm glad you called. This way we can get to know each other better" nodding, I slide into the passenger seat of his car. "So Joey, what did you and Daniel argue about?" "Well, we didn't really argue, it was more me yelling and him trying to reason with me" Alx chuckles "so what were you yelling about?" "You know that I'm obsessed with crystals?" "Yeah, Daniel told me all about your collection and Crystal Wolf" "well, he 'accidentally' knocked off four of my favorite crystals while trying to 'make space' for something that he wouldn't tell me about." Alx scoffed "wait, you're telling me that he broke your crystals because he was trying to move them without your consent?"

At Alx's apartment, I set my stuff by the couch before jumping onto the furniture. "What are you going to do if Daniel calls?" "I don't know, I'll have to answer him or else he won't stop calling" Alx asks me if I need anything before heading off to the kitchen. As if on cue, my phone rings...it's Daniel.

J- What do you want?

D- Why were you getting into Alx's car?

J- I'm staying with him, not that I need to explain myself to you

D-  Joey, I want to explain

J- You had your chance to explain!

D- No, I was making room for something special  that I ordered for you.

J- What?

D- I ordered brand new crystals for you. They're bigger which is why I was making room for them

J- That doesn't explain why you kept blaming it on Wolfie

D- I panicked! I'm so sorry Joey, please come home. Get out of Alx's apartment. He wants to take you away from me

Looking up, I see Alx standing there with two alcoholic drinks in his hands, a smirk on his face. (again, I had to make Alx the bad guy, sorry!)

J- I'll be home in five!

Grabbing my bag, I run out of Alx's apartment complex only to see Daniel waiting for me across the street. "Daniel!" I run into his arms, looking back at the door I see Alx standing there with a death glare. "Come on, let's go home" I nod and slide into the passenger seat "are the new crystals at home already?" Daniel nods "they were in our closet the whole time" I take his hand "I'm so sorry I snapped. I'm sorry for everything" "it's okay Joey, it wasn't your fault. Now, let's go see your new crystals!"

Daniel leads me to the kitchen where a big jade crystal sits where the old one once laid on the window. In the foyer, a bright white iridescent crystal was the exact length of the table. "Oh wow Daniel, these are so beautiful!" Turning to face him, I wrap my arms around his neck " I love you so much" Daniel kisses my nose "I love you more my crystal."
