84. Amaze Me (Fluff)

(Joey's POV)

Little things that you do. That we share, me and you, are air I breathe. You supply me with such wonder stuff. Just one touch is all I need...

Daniel never ceases to amaze me. It's always with the littlest things. Just one touch when I feel down is all that I need. Today, I've decided to explain to him just how much he means to me, in the only way a cliche romantic knows how. Through song. Now, I didn't write it, this is going to be a cover. But who cares? As long as I get my point across, that's all that matters. "Joey?" Speaking of Daniel. I turn around to find Daniel standing in the stairwell rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. "Good morning handsome!" Smiling, he walks over to me "good morning" he kisses me sweetly before dragging me to the kitchen. "What do you want to do today?" The thought of tonight's surprise pops into my head and I smirk "well, I have a surprise for you tonight" Daniel perks up "really?" "But I'm not going to spoil anything" he pouts "not even a little?" I kiss his forehead "your puppy eyes aren't going to work on me today."

It feels like I'm falling into sun. Even on stormy days, in every way, it feels like we're one. As we watch the years go by. Feels like we're still flying high

After breakfast, Daniel runs upstairs to get dressed, giving me time to call our friend Hope. Telling her the plan, she asks why I'm trying so hard to impress Daniel. I smile as Daniel comes down the stairs "maybe we're meant to be. Nothing's changed." Hope promises to get the supplies before hanging up, Daniel comes over to me " who are meant to be?" Leaning up, I kiss his cheek "you and I." Picking me up, Daniel spins us around, smiles on both of our faces. The self-deprecating thoughts vanishing from my mind as Daniel kisses my neck.

Daniel's friends had dragged him out of the house, allowing me time to set up the surprise in our backyard. I did what everyone does in the cliche movies. I set up a path of white rose petals (because red would be too much) that went from the front door to the backyard where I was. But when he would open the back door, there will be candles lighting the path from the door to me. I'll be sitting at the table we have outside by the pool with the instrumental playing. Maybe this is overdoing it, but it's Daniel so it's all worth it. 

Funny how every time, that I'm down you pick me up, you stand by me. People ask, "What's the deal? Why you still so in love?" Maybe, it's meant to be

As planned, around nine o'clock pm, the front door opened. "Joey?!" I waited for him, my legs turning into gelatin. The back door creaks open and I see a silhouette of Daniel coming. "Woah" he followed the path, but as he got closer, he paused five feet before me. "Is this a proposal? Joey, I thought I explained this to you! I don't want to get engaged for a few more years!" I stood up from behind the table "it's not a proposal Daniel! Can't I just set up something for you without you jumping to conclusions?" "If it's not a proposal then why are all the fixings for one all over the ground?" "It's called being cliche and romantic! I'm sorry for trying to set up something nice for you!" I push past him "I'm gonna stay at Connor's tonight." (I miss their friendship okay!)

The moment Connor opened the door, he nodded and let me inside. "You're staying here tonight?" "If that's okay with you" he smiles "of course it is! I've missed having you over!" Showing me to the guest room, Connor straightens the bedsheets and grabs some sleepwear for me, folding it neatly. "How has someone not made you their husband yet?!" Connor chuckles "I know! Well, there was one person who I thought would call me theirs but..." I nod, knowing who he's talking about. "Let's not speak of him, we don't talk about things that upset us at sleepovers."

(The Next Morning)

I wake up in a different space, I don't see Connor's wallpaper or smell the Febreeze he sprayed over the room last night. Where am I? Sitting up, I look around to see that I'm in the back of someone's car. I feel the bubble of anxiety grow inside me, whose car am I in? Looking at the driver's side, I see Daniel. "Why did you basically kidnap me?" "I didn't, you were sleeping, Connor gave me permission." I roll my eyes "well I'd rather be at Connor's than with someone who doesn't appreciate what I do for them" he sighs "Joey, I'm really sorry for what happened last night. You're right, I jumped to conclusions instead of letting you explain. I'm really sorry that I ruined the surprise" shrugging, I turn over so that I face the car seats. 

Arriving home, Daniel asks me to close my eyes.

"Okay, you can open your eyes" obliging, my jaw drops.

I see candles, fairy lights, and rose petals all over the floor and walls. "Since I ruined the surprise last night, I decided to recreate it!"

Looking over at Daniel, I jump on him, wrapping my legs around his waist "I love you! I love you! I love you!" He smiles, hugging me tightly. I ended up singing the song to Daniel, making him cry. But it was happy tears so it's alright. I love this boy so much, I don't know what I would do without him.
