35. Disconnected (Fluff)

I got this idea when I was without my iPhone and a laptop. Hope you like it! This was all I was working on when I had free time. The song is what this oneshot is based off of.

(Joey's POV)

I'm sitting in my office, I just finished recording 10 videos for my gaming and main channel. As I'm uploading one of the videos, Daniel comes in "hey Joey!" Since I just uploaded a try not to get scared video, I jumped at his voice "God Daniel! You freaking scared me!" He chuckles "I'm sorry Joey, I didn't mean to" rolling my eyes, I hug him tightly. "Do you want to go out for dinner tonight?" I nod "yeah, let me just upload today's gaming video" Daniel sighs as I pull away "alright."

(Daniel's POV)

I know Joey's job requires him to be an online presence all of the time, but there are moments where I wish I could spend time with Joey without him checking Twitter, Instagram, or YouTube. "Hey Daniel! What're you thinking about?" I look over at Joey "what would you say if I asked you to disconnect?" His eyebrows scrunch in confusion "what do you mean?" I pat the spot next to me "I mean, stay away from all social media, no Instagram, Twitter, or YouTube. (a/n: it's harder than it sounds...the explanation is later in the one shot) Text all your friends saying you're not going to be answering their calls or texts. Put your phone and laptop away for the day, I'll do the same. Just live in the moment, with me."

Joey looks at me for a moment, then down at his phone "I don't know Daniel..." "please Joey, just for today. At twelve-o-one you can go back on social media" Joey pauses, looks at me again and nods "alright. But you do realize this 'disconnection' day will have to be tomorrow right? It's nine p.m" I look at my watch "oh my! You're right I'm sorry! So tomorrow you'll disconnect?" "Yeah, that sounds fun. plus I need a break from Twitter." Oh, I was hoping he'd say that he is excited to spend a day with me without interruption, but I guess not. Joey rests his head on my shoulder "you know what I'm going to love about tomorrow?" "Hmm, what?" Joey looks at me "I'm going to be able to spend a whole day with just you, it's going to be an amazing day."

Waking up, I look at Joey who's still asleep. His phone is tucked under his arm "say goodbye to your phone Joey...okay that sounded creepy." Slowly grabbing his phone, I grab mine and our laptops, putting them in a safe only I know about. I lock Joey's office before heading back to bed. I wake up again to see Joey freaking out "where's my phone? Where's my phone?!" I knew this was coming "Joey, we're disconnecting remember?" He stops pacing "that was today? Ugh, I thought it was tomorrow?" "It was tomorrow, yesterday" Joey sits at the foot of the bed "okay, I can do this. I can go without my laptop or phone, I have you!" Moving over to me, Joey kisses my cheek "so what's on the agenda?"

Joey went swimming while I sat in the kitchen writing a list of things we could do today. With zero connection to the online world, this is perfect opportunity to get Joey out of the house! An hour later, Joey comes inside with a towel wrapped around his waist "hey I'm gonna go change then we can do whatever you have planned!" I nod before rushing to get a backpack. After I've packed waters, towels, bathing suits, snacks, and money, Joey comes back down. "Did you try looking for your phone?" "No...yes" this is going to be harder than I thought. "The best way to take your mind off of your phone is to leave the house, we can go on hikes! Bike rides! We can go to the beach! There's no need for electronics when there are things to do in the real world!"

Pulling Joey out to my car, I ask again what he wants to do. "I guess we could go to the beach, but won't you be tempted to take a photo Mr. Photographer Preda?" I shake my head with a smile "no because I have a gorgeous man beside me, no other sight could ever compare." Joey grabs my hand with a smile before I reverse out of the driveway. While at the beach, Joey sits beside me, staring at the water "do you want to go in? I brought your swim trunks" "not right now" I know he's thinking about what he's missing online, there's no way of keeping the thoughts away, I'm just going to deal with it. "Daniel?" "Mhm?" Joey looks at me "I'm sorry" "it's fine, you're just going through internet withdrawals, I get it." He stands up "where are my swim shorts?"
