36. Misunderstandings (Angst)

(Joey's POV)

I haven't seen Daniel all day. We're both busy with our own things, he's hanging with his friends while I hang out with my puppies. My phone rings, it's Alx James...again. He keeps calling ever since I ran out of his apartment a couple weeks ago. Daniel made me promise never to speak to him again, and to contact him if Alx calls or texts me. But I don't this time, letting him have his time with his friends. More and more calls from Alx blow up my phone until I've had enough. Instead of answering, I call Daniel.

D- Hey Joey what's wrong?

J- Alx keeps calling, I have fifty missed calls from him. Has he called you?

D- Uh...uh...no! You haven't answered his calls have you?

Why did Daniel stutter?

J- No...I just told you I have missed calls from him. Meaning I have never nor will ever answer his calls.

D- Good, I have to go! See you later!

No 'I love you'?

J- Yeah...see you.

I hang up with a frown, what is Daniel up to? He's not hanging out with Alx again is he? Going on Find My Friends (Daniel made me get it after the last altercation with Alx) I see that he's at Alx's apartment. I get another call from Alx and this time I answer, pissed off.

J- WHAT IS DANIEL DOING OVER AT YOUR PLACE?

A- We're just hanging out as friends Joseph, he's sitting across from me now if you want to talk to him?

Tears well up in my eyes

J- No. I don't want to speak with him, have fun.

I hang up before throwing my phone at the wall, it doesn't break since I have a protective case on. I pull at my hair as I cry heavily, why did Daniel lie about talking to Alx? Running out of the house, I head straight for Starbucks.

(Daniel's POV)

Alx hangs up the phone with a smirk "that was your boyfriend" "why did you say that to him?" "I'm just telling him the truth" "I am not your friend Alx, you know why I'm here. Back off, stay away from me and Joey. You've caused us enough stress" Alx pouts "awe have I? Well, looks like I've just caused a little more than stress to Joey. Maybe heartbreak? Devastation? I mean, you are sitting here talking to the one person he hates...I mean strongly dislikes as you say." Looking at my phone, I try calling Joey, no answer. I stand up "stay the fuck away from us! Don't contact Joey, don't even look at him! You got that?" I punch Alx before sprinting out of the apartment.

Where's Joey? Where's Joey? I look over at the wall where Joey's phone lay face down on the ground. He's gone somewhere, and when Joey gets upset, he goes to get caffeine. The one thing he hates. Driving over to Starbucks, I don't see Joey in the building "hi! Have you seen Joey Graceffa?" I ask the barista, she nods "yeah, he just left" I thank her before getting back in my car. Where the hell is he?

(Joey's POV)

Walking down empty streets, tears still stream down my face. I know I'll have to face Daniel sometime today. But I don't know if I feel comfortable looking him in the eye at this moment, he lied to me and possibly cheated on me. I didn't even realize I was on my street until I saw my house in the distance...and Daniel's car in the driveway. I jump behind a tree as he runs out of the house and into his car, pulling out of the driveway harshly. Watching him drive away, I sigh before entering the house again "Joey!" Maria greets me at the door worried "hi Maria, what's wrong?" "Daniel just came home looking for you! He looked so distressed! He said he went to Starbucks but you weren't there, he drove around in a circle looking for you!" "Well if he comes back, tell him I'll be in our room" she nods and I head upstairs.

I hear the front door slam open "JOEY?!" "He's upstairs" I hide in the closet as Daniel runs upstairs to find me "Joey?" I sit against the wall, holding my breath. "Joey?" My eyes widen as he opens the closet door, his eyes meeting mine instantly. Pulling me out, he hugs me tightly to his chest but I try to push him off. "What's wrong?" "You lied to me! You said you haven't contacted Alx since the last time you saw him yet you were over his house! Daniel! I thought you cheated on me! You say you were at your friends but last time I checked Alx is anything but a friend! But I guess since he's close by you just decided to visit and see what he's been bragging about for yourself!" Shoving Daniel away, I sit on the bed crying my eyes out.

"Joey, I'm so sorry I lied to you. But I never would cheat on you, you're the only one for me" "then why were you over there? Why did you even lie in the first place?!" Daniel sits next to me "I went over there to make sure he knows to stay away from us, I knew he wouldn't listen to me over the phone. I'm sorry I lied, I will never do anything like that ever again" looking up at him, I ask the one question that's been racking my brain all day "do you even love me anymore?"

Daniel gasps, pulling me on his lap "oh Joey. Of course I love you! You're my whole life, you're my better half, I can't even imagine a day without you by my side. To hear you ask that question crushes me, to know that it's because I've lied destroys me. I promised never to lie to you yet I have. And I am oh so sorry, I will never do that again. You don't deserve to be lied to, you deserve to hear nothing but the truth. Here's my truth. I love you Joey Graceffa, I love you more than I ever thought was possible. I would buy you flowers with little notes everyday for the rest of our lives if you wanted me to. I promise you that from this day forward, I will never lie to you again, instead I will shower you with the love you deserve." He kisses the promise ring that lies on my finger before looking up at me, without a second thought, I press my lips against his. "I love you so much Daniel."
