--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------(3rd Person POV)
Joey Graceffa and Daniel Preda were the cutest couple in their high school. They were attached at the hip, had all the same classes, kissed in the halls even though there was a strict rule against PDA. They did everything a romantic comedy couple did in the movies. But then, college came around. Unbeknownst to the high school, the couple thought it was best to be friends while they were in college and hopefully pick up where they left off after the four years. Joey went to Berkeley while Daniel went to UCLA. They were 370 miles apart.
Two years later, neither of them dated anyone. But at the same time, the memory of their high school sweetheart seemed to disappear from their mind. Joey focused on his English and social science degree while Daniel focused on his sociology degree. The two were at peace with where they were in their lives, but they couldn't help the overwhelming feeling that something was missing.
(Joey's POV)
As I was studying for my next exam, my phone goes off with a call from my friend Shane. "Hello?" "Joey! How have you been?" "Okay I guess, why are you calling? I haven't heard from you since high school" "I know! That's why I'm calling, our high school reunion is coming up!" "We graduated two years ago, what kind of reunion is that?" Shane chuckles "not that kind of reunion! Have you forgotten? That pact we made before graduation, that we'd all come back in two years! You, Daniel, Ryland and I!" My eyes widen, I haven't heard Daniel's name in two years, seemingly forgetting my best friend's existence "I can't just drop everything, I have five exams coming in the next week!" "Relax, I meant once the semester is over, which I know for you is right after the exams, am I correct?" "Yeah. But can you call Daniel and tell him, we haven't spoken in awhile" a sigh answers me "I know, Ryland's on the phone with him now. I hate that this is the first time you two will be seeing each other in two years! But I think it will be for the best" "what if I don't show up?" "Then we'll drive to Berkeley and drag you out ourselves" "well have fun with that!"
Falling back onto the bed, I groan "why did he have to bring up his name?!" "Who's name?" My friend Stacey asks as she enters the room "you remember that boy that I used to date back in high school. I told you about him" "Daniel?" I shudder "yeah, him." "Why are you so upset? You two are still best buds right, or am I missing something?" "Our friendship ended a year ago, the distance getting to our heads. I completely forgot about him, until Shane called about a stupid friends reunion in two weeks!" Sitting by me, Stacey frowns "I know it's been a long time, but you and Daniel had a beautiful relationship with what you told me, why are you afraid of seeing him?" "Because he probably hates me now, I was the one who ended it."
(Daniel's POV)
Sitting at my desk, my phone buzzes in my pocket. It's my old friend Ryland. "Hey, Ryland! How has it been man?" "Great! Shane and I are still doing community college unlike you" chuckling, I shake my head "so why did you call?" He pauses "do you remember that pact we all made two years ago, before graduation?" "Who is 'we all'?" "Shane, you, me, and Joey" my eyes widen, I haven't heard from Joey for a year! "I kinda remember, refresh my memory please" "well, we all said that in two years we would all come together again for a friends reunion" my eyes widen "and Joey is going to be there too?" "I hope so, Shane is talking to him right now. Doesn't sound like it's going well" I frowned, knowing why Joey isn't too thrilled. "Well, I hope to see him. It'll be weird but, good." Ryland hangs up and I slam my head against my desk, the thought of seeing Joey again brings back memories of when we were together. God, I miss him.
