(Joey's POV)

Daniel and I are in our second to last year in high school. We met when we were freshmen, I just moved to town and Daniel was my tour guide. I was and still am very shy, so I didn't talk much, just thanked him and nodded when he asked me questions. Eventually, he got me to talk more and we found that we had a lot in common, as he talked, I found myself falling in love with the boy. I knew he loved me too, so I asked him if he loved me, he blushed and said yes. We've been together since freshman year. However, I knew that being with someone as beautiful as Daniel, people would make comments. And boy did they.

All throughout sophomore year, I was getting notes thrown at me or whispers from students, telling me that I didn't deserve someone as gorgeous as Daniel. At first, I shrugged them all off, but after awhile, I believed it too. And this is where our story begins.

(3rd Person POV)

Another student passed by the couple, their shoulder hitting Joey's whispering a harsh word toward the boy. Sighing, Joey looked up at his boyfriend and frowned, he knew this was never going to end. Not until their relationship ended. Joey shuddered at the thought of leaving Daniel, he couldn't. But he knew he had to. How was he going to go through with it? Was he just going to walk away without a reason? Is he going to tell Daniel what's been going on and then leave? All these thoughts captured Joey's attention, keeping him from noticing Daniel's worried gaze. Daniel knew there was something going on with Joey, he's been quieter now than he was when they first met. Whatever is going through his mind, why won't he tell Daniel about it? It's not like he'd judge him. All he wants to know is what has been keeping him so silent.

"Daniel?" Joey whispers to his boyfriend, his eyes locked on his shoes "yeah Joey?" Daniel walks over, wrapping his arms around the boy, his finger moving Joey's head up. "I can't do this anymore" Daniel's arms fall to his sides "what?" "I can't go on with you" Daniel's heart was breaking, there was no way this is reality. It has to be a dream, it has to be a dream. Snap out of it Daniel! Daniel shakes his head "no, Joey. I can't let you just slip away, there has to be a reason. What aren't you telling me?" Joey's breathing becomes uneven "I have to go" as Joey's walking away, Daniel grabs his hand "please don't go" Joey shakes his head, his hand slipping out from Daniel's grip "I'm sorry."

It's been two weeks since Joey broke up with Daniel. Daniel hasn't been in school. Or at least, that's what Joey believes. Daniel has been talking to a few of his old friends who had admitted to harassing Joey, punching their lights out. If three people confessed to harassing Joey because he was with Daniel, who else has? Running up and down the halls, Daniel yells at people who confess, telling them that if they so much as look at Joey negatively, they won't see the next day. You must be asking what has Joey been doing while Daniel has been going around threatening people. Well, he's been in hell. Emotional hell. Ever since he ended things with Daniel, he hasn't been the same. He has started to notice more and more people begin to ignore him, but he believes it's because Daniel isn't attached to him. That is until he goes to see his old friend Gabbie. She turned on him when he began dating Daniel, refusing to believe that Joey had taken the most popular boy in school. When he walked up to her, she shied away, turning her back on Joey. "Gabbie, I know we haven't talked in two years but, can we try again?" Gabbie looks down at the floor, scared of what Daniel would do if she looked at Joey "no."

To say Joey was confused is an understatement. More and more people who used to harass him, just look down at the ground instead of calling him names. What was going on? He walked up to the boy who bumped into him three weeks ago "hey, what has been going on? Why haven't you been bullying me anymore? Have you finally turned over a new leaf?" The boy shakes his head, his eyes trained on his shoes "it's Daniel. He's been going around school to each person who harassed you in the past, telling us that we wouldn't live to see another day if we so much as looked at you wrong." Joey was amazed, why was Daniel doing this? How did he know? Joey shyly thanked the boy and walked away, shaking his head in disbelief. He paused, Gabbie wouldn't look him in the eye...oh my God, her too?

Where is Daniel?

Joey has been running all over school trying to find his ex-boyfriend, pushing past people, yelling his name whenever he swears he'd seen a glimpse of his back. The boy was nowhere to be found. Joey grabbed his phone, dialing the one boy he loves. Praying to God that Daniel would answer.

"Hello?"

Joey was shocked, Daniel's voice sounded as if he had been crying for some time. But they broke up three weeks ago, why is he now crying?

"Daniel"

"Joey, why are you calling? I thought you were done with me"

"I know we left off on bad terms, but can we please meet? I have some explaining to do"

Daniel sighed "I'll meet you in the bleachers behind the school"

Joey smiled, this was a start "see you there."

Sitting anxiously in the bleachers, Joey's knee bounced as he tried to calm his nerves, it was only Daniel, why was he so nervous? Finally, Joey sees a silhouette of Daniel coming up the stairs, he stands up, wiping his hands on his jeans. "Daniel" he breathes, his heart swelling at the gorgeous boy in front of him. But he could see faint tear streaks covering his cheeks. Patting the seat beside him, Daniel walked over. "I never gave you a full explanation as to why I left you" Daniel nods "I know you didn't, but honestly Joey, for you to think I'd let you go so easily is beyond me." "What?" Looking over at Joey, Daniel places a hand against his jawline "I love you too much to have you fall out of my life so quick. I figured out what happened to you from a few of my old friends, who admitted to me that they've been bullying you. After I punched the daylights out of them, I went around school finding more people confessing to hurting you. I threatened them because I thought that when I did, you'd come back. But you didn't. It took you a week and a half to contact me. I haven't gone to school since I threatened the students because I didn't want to see you and be reminded that what I did had gone unnoticed."

Joey frowned, Daniel had done something incredible for him, and all this time, Joey had thought Daniel wanted to get rid of him. "Daniel, I'm sorry I didn't reach out to you. But truthfully, I didn't find out about you threatening anyone before yesterday" "really?" Joey nods, sliding closer to Daniel "I made a mistake Daniel, a huge mistake. I should have never let you get away" Daniel wraps an arm around Joey's waist "oh Joey, you never let me get away because I never let you go. I won't let you go, ever."

It's been a week since the conversation at the bleachers, Joey and Daniel haven't left each other's side. Daniel's words rang true all throughout their lives. He will never let Joey go.
