Based off of the song "Just Saying" by 5 Seconds of Summer. I've been wanting to write this oneshot for a while now. It's kind of like my oneshot "Just Friends" but with a twist.

(Daniel's POV)

I miss my old friend. I miss the old Joey. Ever since he started dating Ace, he has definitely changed. Sure we're still kind of close, but he never asks about my life, he just talks about his boyfriend. Let me give you a bit of a backstory. He met Ace about four months ago at a club, Ace hit on him while he was talking to me. Ace is a bit taller than Joey, he has sandy blonde hair and bright green eyes. He basically looks like a surfer. When I first met him, I immediately hated him. I don't understand why Joey would go for someone like him, he's so disgustingly stereotypical, I never thought that Joey liked the cliche surfer type.

Every other Friday, Joey would text me that he and Ace were going out on a date. But then he would tell me that Ace was late. I got that message for four hours straight, by the third hour I got angry. Why was Joey letting this happen? I didn't say anything because I keep asking myself that question whenever Joey told me something really pathetic about him and Ace. I think it's blatantly obvious that the only person who likes Ace is Joey, but that's only because he's distracted by Ace's apparent "good looks." I honestly think I'm better looking than Ace, but that's my opinion.

Joey came over to my house the next day, I asked him about his date with Ace, and my jaw fell to the floor. "He made you pay? How much was the bill?" Joey shrugs "about seventy, he wanted the most expensive thing on the menu." Are you fucking serious? "Joey, that's not a nice thing for him to do. He took you on a date, he should've paid" again, he shrugs "don't worry about it Daniel, it's none of your business." Oh but it is. "Anyway, how's life in Daniel's world? I feel like I haven't spent time with you-" he gets cut off by his phone buzzing rapidly "ooh! Ace is calling!" Jumping off the couch, Joey runs to the kitchen with a huge smile on his face. I looked after him with an annoyed expression, of course, he'd blow me off for Ace.

I waited for Joey to get off the phone for thirty minutes until he finally hung up. When he came back, his smile dropped "I'm sorry about that" I rolled my eyes, sitting back against the couch. "What did Ace ask for now? Did he want you to pay his cell phone bill?" "No, he wants me to come over. He told me he lives alone in a big house, I have to go!" "You're going to his house wearing that?" He pauses "what's wrong with my outfit?" "It looks like you're going to a funeral, you're wearing all black and in sweats. You don't want him to think you're weird do you?" Joey looks at me with wide eyes "you're right! I'm gonna go home and change, thank you, Daniel!" Once I knew he was off my street, I jumped in my car and drove down the street where I knew Ace lived. I parked across from his house, and to my delight, I saw him fighting with a woman. His mother.

Rolling down the window, I could hear their conversations clearly. "What do you mean you want me out of the house?!" "I just need you to not be here for a few hours! I have a guy coming over!" His mother scoffed "another one? This is your fifth one this week!" My eyes widen, the fifth one? "But this guy is different! He's easy!" I gasped, my face paled. I drove to Joey's house just as he was getting in his car, I jumped out and called his name repeatedly. Rolling down the window, Joey looks at me, obviously annoyed. "What do you want now?" "Look, I know you want to go hang out with Ace, but why don't we hang out together? I mean, you've been with him every single day this week, I want to spend some time with my friend Joey too." A part of me waited for him to drive away but to my surprise. He got out of the car.

Joey and I spent the day watching comedy movies, his phone off and in his car. Joey rested his head on my shoulder as he laughed, his eyes squeezed shut and a beaming smile. I have never seen him this happy with Ace, so the fact that I can make him this happy, makes me happy as well.
