(Daniel's POV)

I've been with Joey for almost ten years. He's my first real love. He is the first person to show me what love is. One memory that sticks in my mind is the day we met. You see, I didn't grow up in the happiest of households. My parents always argued, they threw things around the house, frightening me and most definitely scarring me. One night, I couldn't bear listening to them. I jumped out of my window and ran. I didn't know where I was going, I just knew I had to get out. I ended up going to a river, where I found a boy skipping rocks.

"Hello," the boy jumped. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" looking over at me, he smiles "it's alright. Didn't think anyone knew about this place other than me." Looking at the boy, I saw tear streaks shining on his face in the moonlight. "What are you doing?" "Skipping rocks, wanna join?" Nodding, I take a step toward him "I'm Daniel." "Nice to meet you, Daniel, I'm Joey." Every single night for a year, Joey and I met up at the river edge, quickly gaining trust in each other. We told each other about our home situations, he understands why I don't have many friends and why I run away from my house every night. And I understand why he skips rocks and why he needs to escape every once in a while. Both of us have troubled lives.

Flash forward to our second year together, Joey asked me to move in with him, both of us old enough to live on our own. I was happy just to get out of the house. Away from the nonstop arguments of my parents, away from the glass shards. At first, I was happy to be with him. But once reality set in it was...different for me. I was expecting him to get sick of me by day three, tell me that I'm a shitty roommate and that we moved too fast. But no. Every chance he gets, Joey would ask me to open up. And I would tell him the truth, nothing but. But I would tell him the same thing every night. I could see his eyes roll as he'd tell me the same advice that he'd say every night. One day I chose to leave, I didn't want to burden him any longer. As I was about to leave though, he pulled my arm and I fell against his chest. I cried against his shirt, hitting my fists against his chest begging him to let me go. "You think I would let you go so easily? Or at all?" Nodding, I started violently shaking "I-I'm sorry." Joey kissed the top of my head, his hand rubbing circles on my back. "There's no need little boy, there's no need for apologies."

Halfway through our fifth year, Joey and I were hitting a bump. Rumors circulated that Joey was cheating on me. Normally, someone in this situation would yell at their S/O and accuse them. But as someone who struggles with emotions and feeling love, I took this really hard. Joey sat with me every night from the moment we came home from work until the moment we leave for work, confessing his love for me and how the rumors aren't true. And I knew they weren't. Seeing as someone who cheats on their boyfriend would not be sitting with them every night telling them how much they love them. "Who started the rumor, Joey?" "I don't know Daniel. But if I ever find out, I will hurt them. No one messes with my love" smiling, I rest against his chest. "No one messes with what we have." Then the smile falls "if someone tries to come between the two of us, what happens then?" Joey kisses my temple "we will become stronger. We will fight back. Our relationship can outstand anything that reaches us. In fact, I'll prove it." Walking over to the bureau, Joey opens one of the drawers, taking out a ring box. "Now, I'm not proposing to you, I want to wait a couple years. This is a forever promise.I promise to love you until the end of time. I promise you that no matter what comes our way, I'll stand by your side. I love you so much Daniel. You came into my life like a shooting star, and I'm not gonna let you go. I promise you that." Sliding a ring on my finger, Joey kisses my hand as he sits back down beside me.
