Tayten's POV
"Lilo, Lilo wake up were landing! Wake up." I groaned as I began to smack the sleeping blonde. After a few minutes of whisper yelling at my friend, she slowly opened her heavy eyes and began to glare at me.
"Where are we again?" She asks sitting up in the airplane seat.
I began to smile with eager eyes and begin to recite our entire story for her, even though that's not what she asked."So we're here for foreign exchange in Shanghai. We flew here from Chicago and you aren't listening...are you...?" I paused and frowned. "You're asleep...again." I groaned and began to hit her with my pillow. Even with that she didn't budge so I began to annoy her in the worst way possible.
My American accent.
She was way better than I was at Chinese in middle school because let me tell you, when I met her, my Chinese was atrocious. I would pronounce everything in the heaviest American accent. Later once I improved I used it to help my grades. I would use that accent so that so I could come in one day sounding awful, then the next day speak flawlessly just to make it seemed like I improved.
Apparently I was a legend to the language teachers because I would do the heavy accent to all of them then come in the next day sounding like a native.
"Hello my name is Tayten. I'm from Chicago. How are you?" I began to speak in Chinese making sure my sentences were very choppy."I. Swear. To. Chinese. Food. I will shove the nearest chopsticks up your nose if you keep doing that ridiculous accent." She stated as her eyes looked deep into my soul. Scary Lilo.
"Ooo, feisty. Rawr." I winked.
"When can I get off this plane? I want to kill myself."
"Rude."
After a half an hour of the two of us getting ourselves situated we made our way to Shanghai. "Why do people keep looking at me?" I whined to the older girl.
"Well for one, we are foreigners. Two, you're holding a stuffed penguin in your hand. Three, they love our visuals." She bluntly says offending Gunther.
"One, and? Two, Gunther isn't a 'stuffed penguin', he's family excuse you." I say as I fix Gunther's hat.
"Jesus." She mutters under her breath as she adjusts her face mask.
"And three, our visuals must be good cause we got a bunch of cameras on us." I began to point out all the cameras and begin to start hiding myself with my floppy hat and mask. Of course that doesn't matter since Lilo begins to question the camera men.
"Wait you are Lilo and Tayten, the foreign exchange students right?" One camera guy asks us both.
Lilo titled her head in question, "yeah... are you from the university..?" She wondered aloud.
"You didn't read the fine print? But you both signed..." the man continued, sounding confused.
Lilo slowly turned to glare at me. "Oh I think I remember now. What did I sign for again?" She asks passive aggressively. Well I'm gonna die...
"You agreed to a contract for our show 'Language Barrier' that we are filming right now!" The producer says, walking up to us and shaking our hands.
"Wait so that's what it meant by you'll be on 'Language Barrier'!" I lightly smack my head.
"What did you just sign us up for."
