Minghao's POV

I felt out of place as everyone spoke a language I could barely understand and the only one who made me feel at home was being pulled away from me by different people.

"Minghao?" A short girl pulled on my sleeve.

She was about 4'11 with strawberry blonde hair, she had a few birthmarks on her face and big round glasses sitting on the tip of her nose. She had some of the same features as Tayten.

"Y-yes?" I stuttered out with a thick accent.

The girl beamed as she was so happy to see me. "I'm Sixela! I'm Tayten's older sister."

"R-really? You...look young." I manage to ask due to my limited English.

"I get that, anyways I would like to chat more but I see my husband trying to quiet down my twin sons, if you don't find Tayten ask Reece he's the guy in the red, the guy is crazy. He speaks Chinese." She explained making hand gestures which helped out a lot because understood nothing but 'red guy Chinese.'

"See you later!" She waved as she made her way to the man with the kids crying.

I looked around once again and I couldn't spot the gray-haired girl, I made my way to the man with a red Flannel on. He dressed like a wannabe lumberjack.

"Hello?" I tapped his shoulder and right away I was knocked back by a wave of cologne.

"Oh, what's up?" He greeted me with the worlds strongest English accent. "I'm Reece, you are?" He smiled at me, but it seemed fake, it seemed like he really didn't care and he had no intention of being here.

"Minghao," I answered quickly as I just want to find Tayten. "have you seen Tayten?" I asked but something went off as his expression seemed to change.

"No, I'm actually trying to find her too. I gotta ask her about marriage again."

"Marriage?" I chocked on air. "She hasn't even been proposed to yet." I quickly begin to replay our whole relationship and the only time she was married was her fake husband Joshy.

"Yea she has." He chuckled as he watched me being confused. "Oh she probably didn't mention it to you, she never mentions it to anyone, I wouldn't blame her." He looked at me spitting out his words with venom, hoping I would be bothered, and bothered I was. "I mean an arranged marriage that was planned before your birth." He began to explain to me.

"Who is her fiancé?"

"Me of course." He punched my arm as if it was obvious. "I've known her for years now-"

"Excuse me." I cut him off not being able to listen to another word coming out his mouth. I quickly made my way to an empty hallway and sat finally in peace.

"Minghao there you are! I've been looking for you!" Tayten sighed out in relief.

"I don't think Reece would like that." I mumbled.

"Who told you?" Her tons seemed to sharpen as he seemed like a touchy subject.

"Reece." I told her quickly as I knew she wasn't in the best mood anymore.

"That Iron Oxide..." She insulted Reece? "Listen it's what my dad and I were arguing about." She sighed as she seemed stressed.

"Two minutes till New Year!"

"My dad wants me to marry him because my family and his are rivals and our marriage would patch up everything. Plus Reece would be the CEO making me the wife of a CEO, of course, I would have to quit my career to support him and be his housewife which I was against because I was accepted by my dream college in Chicago. I found a good home with two of my best friends, and a possibility to go to China. And as we are speaking you can tell I rejected the marriage and went on with my dream and now I have you. And I wouldn't trade it for anything or anyone because it's you. And I'm glad that I get to enter the new year with you by my side Minghao." She cried out avoiding eye contact as she quickly wiped her tears.

"10...9...8..."

"I love you Minghao." She smiled once more, the smile that I had been longing ever since we got here. The smile I fell in love with. The smile that was my home.

"5...4...3"

"I love you too." I smiled as I leaned in to kiss the girl that I would eventually marry one day.

"Happy New Year's!"
