"Why did you just do that?" I yell, running the back of my hand across my lips in disgust.
"You wouldn't shut up!" Kaleb yells back at me, a smug look crosses his face. "But don't act like it wasn't...

Song: Better Alone by Carolina Liar

I'm sitting opposite of Adam in Pete's. I dunk a french fry in ranch dressing and smile up at my fried. He's telling me about his weekend away. Right now he's going in depth about some girl he went swimming with. I laugh at something he said.
"So did you get her number?" I question, biting into a new fry.
"I did." He said proudly.
"What about the girl at the bowling alley?" I asked.
"Cameron. She's cool." He shrugs.
"So you're talking with both?"
He nods, "Nothing's going to happen with the girl I met at the hotel, Tyler. She's just fun to talk to."
"I didn't know you were such a player, Adam." I tease him.
He laughs at me and digs into his chicken fingers. The bell chimes as someone enters the diner. Olivia Connors comes strutting into Pete's flanked by thing one and thing two. She's wearing her usual skimpy attire. She spots me instantly across the restaurant, flips her hair over her shoulder, and gives me an icy glare. I try hard to ignore her. Her and her two side kicks take a booth on the opposite side of us.
A moment later the bell chimes once again. Kaleb Nixon walks into the restaurant wearing his trustee leather jacket. He doesn't notice me at first. Of course, the only person he notices is Oliva Connors. He gives her a wink and then crosses the diner to meet her. Olivia makes room for him. Her slides in close to her, a little too close.
I instantly feel sick to my stomach. I gulp and peel my eyes away from them.
"The world is right again." Adam states as he notices Olivia and Connors as well.
I don't say anything, because I don't trust myself. I don't know why the sight of them together makes me so angry and sick. Maybe it's because I had seen the good side of Kaleb and I knew for a fact that Olivia Connors was a snake in high heels.
"Looks like they're getting back together." Adam laughs.
My eyes snap to his, "They dated before?"
"Yeah. They dated for like a year and a half. They were perfect for each other if you ask me."
"What happened?"
"Kale has commitment issues. I guess things got too serious."
That did sound like Kaleb, but it was weird to think that he dated Olivia. But of course the queen Bee and the hottest guy in school would end up getting together. Maybe I was the only one that knew the good side of Kaleb. Maybe he was a different person with me than he was with the rest of the school.
Our waitress came back a moment later and refilled our drinks. I didn't touch mine. I could hear Olivia giggling at something Kaleb said. Thing one and thing two joined in. When I peered over at Kaleb, he was soaking up the attention. He smirked at Oliva and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear: classic Kaleb Nixon moves.
