After 4th period, Peeta shows me around the rest of the school before taking me into the lunch hall to meet up with the others. We wander around the hall looking for them until Clove stands up and shouts our names. We rush over and join them and as I search my bag for my purse I realise I left it on the kitchen counter. I put my bag back down and try to ignore my rumbling belly. Peeta seems to notice that I haven't got anything out of my bag and asks me what's wrong.
"Nothing I just left my money on the counter but I'm not that hungry anyways" I reply, shrugging my shoulders. He smiles at me whilst digging through his jean pockets. He pulls out his wallet and I immediately begin to object as he hands me a 5 pound note.
"Peeta no I can't take your money" I hand it back to him and he gives me a sly smile. He looks over to Finnick and winks.
" So Katniss" Finnick asks me, "What's your favourite sandwich?"
And before I can think about it I reply.
"Tuna and-" I clap my hands over my mouth before I say anything more but Peeta has already left the table.
He returns only minutes later carrying a tuna and sweet corn sandwich - My Favourite! He puts it down in front of me and smiles.
"For you and you can't object because technically i didn't offer" He smiles. He is just so perfect.
"Thank you" is all I can say before I'm cut of by Glimmers loud voice screaming "SLEEPOVER AT MY HOUSE" to everybody sat at our table.
The bell rings signalling the end of lunch and everybody says there goodbyes as they head off to there last 2 periods of the day. I have double gym next with everyone except marvel and Cato. Clove leads me to the changing room and we quickly change out of our clothes and into our gym shorts and shirts. A girl walks in with short black hair and Clove rushes over giving her big hug.
"JOHANNNA!" she screams drawing the attention of the other girls who run over and swoon over her tan. Clove and Glimmer point over in my direction and not long after they are leading her over.
"Katniss this is Johanna, Johanna this is Katniss" They both say, laughing at there synchronisation.
"Hi nice to meet you" I say politely as my mother had always taught me.
"You too" is all she replays before our coach shouts through the door for us to hurry up. We all run out in the gym hall and begin to follow Coach Enobaria's warm up routine. After ten minutes of this she goes us the choice of Track, Tennis, Badminton and Gymnastics. To my surprise only Me, Peeta and 3 other kids choose track so Coach sets us up for a race.
After 5 minutes of race time its only me and Peeta left. I look behind and smile as I see he is beginning to slow down only to look back and see he has sprinted ahead of me. So thats the game he wants to play, I think to myself as I speed up and start running next to him. I overtake him and soon realise that a crowd has started to form around the track with Coach Enobaria at the start line.
"You have 5 laps left!" she shouts from the line which only makes me and Peeta sprint harder. People start to cheer from the side and to my suprise a lot are shouting my name instead of Peeta's. With only one lap to go me and Peeta are neck and neck. The finish edges closer and closer until
the both of us have passed and collapsed on the floor next to eachother whilst the crowd shouts and cheers. Coach walks over to us both and declares it was a draw then dismisses everyone but us. Peeta gets up first and walks up to me and offers his hand. I grab it but as I stand up I pull him down so he is on the floor laughing.
"Fair Play Everdeen" He says chuckling, getting up of the floor and brushing himself down.
"MELLARK, EVERDEEN! Quit clowning around and get over here!" Coach shouts from the gym office.
We race over to the door and she tells is to sit.
"Now both of you are very impressive runners and I would like you on my team" she says to the both of us.
I immediately begin to object but she cuts me off saying no excuses.
"Practice is on Monday and Thursday after school and I expect you to both be there" Coach says before kicking is out her office.
"See you at Glimmers house then right?" Peeta asks me.
"Well I live there so I guess you will!" I shout back entering the girls changing room. I quickly change back into my clothes and rush out to meet Glimmer and Cato by the car. Since Peeta drove us we walk the 10 minutes home discussing the sleepover tonight.
When we reach the house I rush upstairs to shower as it was 5:00 and the others would get here at 5:30. I wash my hair and use my favourite strawberry body lotion before changing into a comfy jumper and some pyjama shorts. Glimmer starts to set out some snacks in small bowls so I grab some cups from the cupboard and get the drinks from the fridge. The door bell rings but Finnick bursts through the door anyways with Annie and Johanna following behind carrying several bags.
"What was the point in knocking?" I ask Finnick smiling as we sit in the living room. Shortly after Peeta walks through the door with Marvel and Clove.
"What now?" I ask as Peeta sits next to me making my heart race. Stop it Katniss! I think to myself. You badly know him and he defiantly does not like you.
"How about.....TRUTH OR DARE?!?" Finnick shouts before returning with and empty bottle.
