Chapter 4 - First Date

A/N - In my story all her family are alive☺️

"Peeta...." My mouth turns dry so I am unable to answer his question.
He looks away and stands up. " Katniss I get it, just pretend nothing ever happend."
I watch him as he walks to the door.
" Peeta wait!" I scramble up of the floor and run to him as he turns around to look at me. I look into his blue and melt inside.
"Peeta, I would love nothing more than to be your girlfriend." His face breaks into a smile as he picks me up and begins to spin us around, I grip into his shoulders for support but he slips anyways and I land on top of him. I giggle as he leans up and crashes his lips onto mine. I know I made the right decision when I feel the sparks created by our kiss. We stay like that for a short while until I begin to smile and break the kiss, standing up and offering him my hand. he takes it and kisses my cheek one last time before pulling me towards the back door.
"Wait Peeta" he turns to looks me with a worried expression. " I think I we should leave them to figure 'us' out!" He smiles at my plan and agrees. We walk back into the house and I stop at the kitchen to grab a drink whilst Peeta returns to the others. I hear some voices and then Peeta telling the others he felt sick and went outside but he was better now. I take a sip of my drink and walk back to the others. They stare at me waiting for an answer so I quickly make up one in my head.
"I went to the bathroom and got a drink" I say not looking anyone in the eye in case they could tell I was lying. Everyone but Glimmer looks away from me and I can tell that she will ask me about it later.
From the other side of the room I see Peeta on his phone then suddenly my back pocket vibrates. I take out my phone to find a text from Peeta.
FROM: PEETA😍💞🍞:
When do you think they will figure us out? 😏 xx

I reply quickly hoping the others won't notice.

TO: PEETA😍💞🍞
Not sure but I think Glimmer has it worked out. Keep going until the others though 😉 xx

He doesn't reply after that so I put my phone away again and try to enjoy the film that the others are watching. It soon finishes and we all decide to go to bed. I take the couch seeing as I forgot my sleeping bag and the others grab pillows and blankets and take to the floor with there sleeping bags. I notice Peeta had moved closer but not by much. I try to fall asleep but I fail. I look at my phone and the time reads 2:30am. I listen to the others gentle snores for 5 minutes to make sure they are all sound asleep before slipping of the couch and into the kitchen. I take a seat at the breakfast bar and grab a small glass of water from the side. I scroll through my photos looking at the ones of me, Prim, Mum and Dad from our annual family holiday for this year. We went to Africa this year. I begin to miss them all as they are all still back in District 12 when I'm all the way in 1. I lock my phone quickly when I hear someone walk into the room and am shocked when it's Peeta stood in the doorway smiling.
"Peeta what are doing up" I ask quickly.
"Could say the same to you" is all he replies before sitting down opposite me.
"Couldn't sleep" I tell him softly, trying not to wake the others.
"Me neither, no windows" I smile at the last part of his sentence.
"Why do you need windows?"
"I don't know just ever since I was little I have always slept with the windows open and I can't without them." As he says this he takes my hands in his slowly tracing circles on the back of my hand.
"Oh" is all I can Reply before I lean in and kiss his soft lips. We stay like this until I hear someone clear there throat. I quickly break the kiss and look to the door to find them all staring at us in the doorway.
"Explain now" is all Finnick says before the girls rush in squealing asking me tons of questions. The boys walk up to Peeta and I see Cato smack his back and marvel do the same. I notice Finnick is smiling but his arms are folded. I've only known him for a week but we have already got the relationship of a brother and sister so I understand his wariness of our new relationship.
I turn back to the girls who are still rapidly firing questions in my direction.
"When did this happen!" Clove squeals next to me.
"When he left to go outside he asked me to follow so I did" That's all I can answer before Glimmer buts in with the next question.
"How did he ask you?"
"We sat down on the grass and he just asked me I guess?"
I look back to Peeta and see he is getting the same treatment just from the boys.
I get up from my stool and make my way over to Peeta and sit on his lap. He snakes his arms around my waist as I whisper into his ear that I'm going back to bed. I kiss his cheek which makes the girls giggle and walk back into the living room and plop myself back onto the sofa. Moments later everyone else walks in and Peeta comes up to me and kisses me goodnight. Just as he is about to leave I grab is hand and stop him.
"Stay with me Peeta?"
"Always" He whispers laying down next to me.

PEETA'S POV

I wake up next to Katniss and remember last nights events. The garden, the kiss and then falling asleep next to her. I slowly sit up and realise that nobody else is here. I turn back to Katniss and slowly shake her awake. She stretches before asking me what the time was.
"10:30 I reply getting off the couch, pulling her with me.
We walk onto the kitchen to find the others sat around the table eating bowls of cereal.
"Morning guys" I say before pouring my own cereal and taking a seat next to Katniss who is eating a banana. We all talk about out plans for the day when I decide that I want to take Katniss on a date and seeing as it was nice summer day, I would take her to the beach. I tell the others That I'm going to get ready and Katniss does the same.
I run upstairs and enter one of Glimmers many bathrooms whilst Katniss goes to her room to get ready. I wash my hair and dress in a white shirt and some swimming trunks that I had bought with me. I knock on Katniss' door and she opens the door in her towel before returning to get ready. I begin to apologise as she stops me and just tells me to come in. I walk in and sit on her queen size bed waiting for her to return from her closet. 10 minutes later she walk out wearing a white crop top and a white high waisted skater skirt with peach coloured flats on. She dries her hair and puts on her makeup before walking over to me and sitting on my lap, pecking my lips.
"Soooo what are we doing today?" She asks looking at me.
"I was thinking that I would take you to the beach, if that's okay with you?" I tell her smiling.
She giggles and says "Let's go then!"
She stops and the front door and I turn around and ask her what's wrong.
"So is this like a date?" She asks me smiling.
"If you want it be" I tell her giving her a quick kiss.
We get into my car and Katniss turns on the radio. She begins to sing along to We The Kings: That Feeling and soon enough I'm singing too. The song ends and we laugh at how ridiculous we must of sounded until we arrive at the beach. I get out the car and whilst she is grabbing her stiff I open Katniss door too. She hops out and smiles at me, before shutting the door behind her and taking my hand.
I set down out towels and sit down next to Katniss. I take of my top seeing as it was 40 degrees today and slip my sunglasses on.

KATNISS' POV
I sit down on my towel just as Peeta is taking his top off. I can't help but stare at his perfect body. Just as he finishes I quickly look away slipping of my own top and skirt leaving me in my white bikini. I tie my hair back and slip on my sunglasses before laying back. Before I know it I'm slowly drifting of to sleep.
I'm awoken by Peeta Picking me up and running towards the water.
" Don't you dare Peeta!" But it's to late. He has already thrown me into the freezing cold ocean. I'm not gonna lie it was quite refreshing being out of the 40 degree heat but still cold all the same! Peeta was only in knee high but he walking back to shore when I jumped into his back, pushing him into ocean. He squealed when he hit the water, making me jump of his back so I didn't drown him.
"Ok, ok truce" Peeta says emerging from the water.
"Deal!" I reply whilst Peeta picks me up bridal style and carries me back to our towels.
For hours we just sit and chat and get to know each other like what our favourite colours are.(Peeta likes orange) I also learn that his family runs a bakery and that he will take me there one day. At 6 we decide to go grab something to eat so Peeta takes me to his favourite restraint the Surf Shack and the food was amazing! I had a chicken salad with chips whilst Peeta had a cheese burger. For dessert we shared a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. It was heaven!
After dinner Peeta drops me off at the door. I give him a long kiss befor breaking away and saying goodnight. He pecks my lips once more before saying goodbye and returning to his car.
I run up to my room and take a quick shower before jumping into bed and scrolling through all the selfies we took at the beach. I slowly drift off to sleep remembering all the fun things we did on our first date
