Chapter 16 - The Everdeens

KATNISS POV

When we reach the house I bolt through the front door an sprint up to my old room. It is exactly how it was when I left 5 months ago. I thought that Prim would have wanted it seeing as it is bigger than hers and has its own bathroom.
"Hey Prim!" I shout.
She comes running through the door.
"What's the matter?" she asks, slightly out of breath.
"2 things. 1 why didn't you take my room when I left and 2 you need to get into shape if that make you tired!" I sat tickling her till she falls onto my bed. I jump up next to her and tickle her harder.
"Ok! Ok! stop Kat!" she cries. I lay back on my bed and wait for her answer.
"I didn't wanna take your room cause I thought you would be mad at me if you ever came back for good."
This makes me smile. Prim is always thinking of others before herself.
"It's ok little duck. Tell you what when I go back you can have this room okay?"
"Are you sure Kat?"
"Yes deal?" I say extending my hand.
"Deal" she smiles taking my hand and waving it up and down.
"Katniss! Prim!" I hear dad call from downstairs. We race to the kitchen were everyone is sat. I see Peeta and realise that I left him here alone with my parents. I walk over to him and wrap my arms around his waist.
"I'm sorry" I whisper.
"What for?" He whispers back.
"Leaving you with my parents" I reply.
He chuckles starts to listen to what my dad has to say.
"Okay so me and your Mother were thinking that this Christmas we would go on a roadtrip!" he shouts. Prim begins to shout and run around excited whilst I just stand there shocked.
"Peeta too?" I ask.
"Of course sweetie! don't be ridiculous!" mum says back.
I look up at Peeta and he has the biggest smile on his face.
"So we will be leaving on Boxing Day and returning a week later so you both have time to get back to Panem." Dad says holding Prim down.
"We will be staying in Districts 11, 4, 7, 1 and 2" mum says rattling off all the hotels and places we could go. I'm really excited. I can't wait to spend this time with Peeta and my family.
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I still have some shopping left to do for some people. Me and Peeta head up to unpack in my room.
"So are you okay with coming with us?" I ask Peeta, I don't want him to feel forced to join us.
"I was thinking about and I don't think I want to" he says. My heart dropped and I froze. If doesn't want to spend time with my family then surely he doesn't want to spend time with me.
"I'm joking Kat!" He says reading my expression. "Of course I want to come, I want nothing more!" He says crossing the room and taking me in his arms.
"That was not funny Peeta!" I say pushing him back. Peeta looks shocked but I let a small smile slip and he realises I'm playing.
"I hate you right now." I say hitting him.
"Will this change your mind?" He says. He crashes his lips onto mine and begin to kiss back almost instantly. His hand wanders around my shirt a his tongues slips into my mouth. I fall back onto my bed, taking him with me. I flip us over so I'm the one ontop and place my legs either side of his. We continue to kiss until eventually my shirt is off. I begin to take his off when someone knocks on the door.
"Katniss? Peeta?" oh god it's my mum. If she's sees this she will not let us sleep anywhere near eachother let alone in the same room. I dive off of Peeta taking my shirt with him and lock myself in the bathroom. I put my shirt back on and listen to Peeta opening the door.

PEETAS POV

"Katniss? Peeta" Mrs Everdeen says knocking on the door. Katniss immediately stops kissing me and dives into the bathroom taking her shirt with her. I glance in the mirror and fix my hair before answering the door.
"Sorry to bother you both but dinner will be ready in 5 minutes." she says looking around the room. I begin to sweat a little. what if Katniss isn't ready? to my relief she walks out of the bathroom with her shirt on and a fresh face if makeup and hair. I sigh a little.
"I'm here mum" she says plopping down on the bed.
Okay well dinner will be ready in a minute" she informs us before leaving again.
Prims walks into the room and shuts the door.
"What's up Prim?" Katniss says sitting up.
"I could hear you guys" she says smirking.
"Don't tell mum or dad they will kill me!" Katniss says standing up.
"I won't but you didn't do anything did you?" she says concerned.
"No Prim we didn't. come on dinners ready" Katniss says walking out the door. I follow behind Prim into the dining room. I take a seat next to Katniss and soon enough Mr Everdeen and his wife walk in carrying to trays of pizza.
"PIZZA!" Katniss shouts, lunging for a piece before it has even been set on the table. I chuckle and take my own piece after it is in the table. I see out of the corner of my eye Katniss downing yet another piece.
"Hey Primmy" she says finishing her mouthful. "can we go shopping tomorrow I have to get a few last pieces" she says.
"Sure I have to get some too" Prim dad eating another piece.
After dinner we all sit in the living room with a bowl of Mrs Everdeens famous chocolate brownie and ice cream.
"Let's watch ELF!" Prim shouts placing the DVD in the player despite everyone's groans. I finish my dessert and carefully place the bowl on the floor, grabbing a blanket at the same time. I wrap it around a sleeping Katniss, planning to carry her up to bed after the film but eventually I find myself falling asleep before the film is over...
