Chapter 27 - Monday...

KATNISS POV

Today is Monday and that means it's my first day back at school since the accident. I drag myself out of bed and notice that Peeta has already gotten out of bed. I take a quick shower and dress myself in some skinny jeans, a white t- shirt and one of Peetas jumpers. I dry my hair, to lazy to do anything else and apply just enough makeup to make myself look alive and presentable. I walk downstairs and into the kitchen where I am greeted with a chorus of good mornings and a kiss from Peeta. I take a pancake from the pile on the table and lean against the counter.
"You ready for your first day back?" Annie asks placing her plate into the sink.
"As ready as I'll ever be I guess" I reply grabbing my bag from the counter and walking outside with Peeta. I get in the passenger seat and wait for him to sit in front. I watch as he walks over to Cato and Finnick and says a few words, glancing at me every now and then. He walks back over and sits in the car.
"What was that about?" I ask him as he starts the engine.
"Oh nothing...just asking about car shares and stuff" he says not looking me in the eye. I brush it off seeing as I'm not in the mood for an argument and look out of the window instead.

PEETAS POV

I unlock the car so that Katniss can get in but walk over to Cato and Finnick before leaving.
"Have you decided on a date yet?" Finnick asks me quitely.
"I'm thinking on the last day of term which is next week" I say glancing back at Katniss.
"Okay that's cool I will tell the girls" Cato says getting into his car.
I return back to Katniss and she asks me what I was talking about. I can't tell her or otherwise it would ruin the surprise so I make a small lie that I hope she believes.
We drive to schooling silence and whenever I glance at her she is staring out the window. I hate lying to her but it will be worth it I hope.
I park the Car and she leaves without saying a word. I check the time and notice I still have a good 20 minutes before registration so I drive off in the search for the nearest flower shop...

KATNISS POV

I leave the car without saying anything. I know it was probably nothing but I can't stand it when people lie to me. I walk through the school alone earning a few curious stares when people see that Peeta isn't with me. I walk into the tutor base and sit down with the rest of the group.
"Where's Peeta?" Marvel asks and I shrug my shoulders. Now I really don't know where he is. I forget about it though and talk girl stuff with glimmer, clove and Annie.
Just as registration is about to begin Peeta runs in with a bunch of flowers.
"Katniss" he breathes. "I'm really sorry" he says walking up to me.
"Why did you lie to me?" I ask him, finally bothered.
"I don't know but you'll find out so enough" he holds out the flowers out me and I feel a small smile creep onto my face.
"Okay" I say as I take them from his hand. " just don't lie to me again!" I say giving him a kiss.
"I promise" he says looking into my eyes.

"Settle down class!" Mr Heavensbee booms, holding a mug of coffee in one hand and some papers in the other.
"Miss Everdeen and Mr Mellark to the front please!" He says sitting at his desk. I groan as I walk towards his desk. I already know what he is going to say.
" miss Everdeen" he says, "I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss" here we go I think as he goes on and on about people being available to talk to and see if I'm struggling.
"Thank you sir, I appreciate it" I say, half lying but half not. I guess it's good to know that someone is there for you.
"Mr Mellark, I see your leg is still broken" he says turning to Peeta.
"Actually sir it's getting better I just need a crutch now not the boot" Peeta says.
"Anyways I trust you will be there to help Katniss if needs be" he says glancing between us.
"Of course sir" Peeta says holding onto my hand.
"That's all return to your seats" he says flicking us away with his hand. It must be one of 'those' days.
"What did he want?" Annie whispers.
"Letting me know about support group" I sigh and she gives me a sympathetic look.

*lunch time*

Finally it's lunch, I think as I walk out of maths and make my way down to the lunch hall. Today has been hell. So far all of my teachers have pulled me aside to tell me how sorry they are but I don't care. No matter how manus sorry singer it will never bring them back. Also everyone I pass has been looking at me strangely like I'm some strange creature. I hate it. I sit down at
The useable table and wait for everyone else. Soon the girls join me and then the rest if the boys except Peeta.
"Where's Peeta?" I ask Finnick.
"Uhhh toilet" Finnick says not looking me in the eye either. Why is everyone. Lying to me today?!
I pretend I don't feel well and walk off to the nurse. I pretend to have a fever and she sends me home. I borrow Catos car seeing as he lives with me and glim and drive myself home. I just can't take being there anymore. Everyone is lying to me and giving me strange looks and giving me sympathy I don't want.
I go straight upstairs and lay on my bed. My phone begins to buzz with messages from Peeta and the guys asking me where I am and what I'm doing. I ignore them though, to tired for their lies.

Today has been the worst day ever.
