Chapter 26 - Home Again

PEETAS POV

Today's the day that me and Katniss fly back home to Panem. After spending the past 2 days stuck inside I think it's safe to say that Katniss is more than excited to leave and go home. We still don't really know what is going to happen and who will become her legal guardians but she will still be staying at Glimmers until twe graduate in the summer.
I watch as the doctors finish their final tests on Katniss.
"Okay so all that is left is for someone to sign your release papers" The head doctor says. Dr Aurelius I think.
"I can do that right?" I ask grabbing my crutches and standing.
"As long as Katniss can prove you are of some relationship to her then you may." 
"He's my boyfriend" Katniss says, looking at me and smirking a little. 
"If you would like to follow me down to reception I will sort them out for you" He says leaving the room.
"See you in a minute" I say to Katniss, hopping out of the room towards reception.

KATNISS POV

When Peeta leaves to sign my release papers I begin to gather my things and pack them into my bag that was brought here when I was. Most of my stuff was saved and easily repaired and only a few small things where lost. I was told that the rest of my familys things were sent straight of back to Glimmer house. I grab my phone and sit down with a sigh as I see my lock screen. It's of me and Prim on Christmas morning. That was only a few weeks ago and it seems just like yesterday that she was running around excited for District 8. A few small tears slip down my cheek but I quickly brush them off when Peeta walks back in.
"You okay?" He says,hopping over to me.
"Yeh, just a little overwhelmed I guess" I walk into his open arms and bury my head in his chest.
"You will be alright" He whispers into my hair. "We'll get through this together" He breathes. 
"Thank you" I say looking at him briefly before kissing gently.
"I gotta pack though" I say and he pouts. "Come on you can help" I laugh.

I grab the remaining clothes left on the side of the little sofa in my room and stuff them into my bag to tired to care if they get creased. Peeta walks into the bathroom and grabs the remaining stuff from in there.
"Done!" I exclaim leaning onto his side, worn out from just packing.
"Our flight is at 6 tonight so we still have a few hours but we can just chill at the airport I guess" Peeta says kissing my forhead.
"I don't want to see or do anything here, It will make me think of the fact that none of my family are here top see it with me anymore" I say grabbing my suitcase and opening the door for Peeta.
" I know" He says walking towards the exit.

*4 hours later*

I sit down in my seat and immediatly rest my head on Peeta's shoulder. We got the priority seats due to Peeta's broken leg. 
"I'm so tired" I whine into Peeta's shoulder.
"Well you have 6 hours till we land" He says resting his chin ontop of my head.
"I know but then you will be lonely" I say looking up at him.
"I have Olaf" He says pointing to himself and then to the screen infront of him which is currently displaying Frozen.
"Oooo me to" I say plugging my headphones into the screen opposite me and snuggling into Peeta's side. 
Eventually I must of fallen alseep though because the next thing I see is Peeta shaking me awake and an empty plane.
I grab all my stuff and mumble a quick sorry to the air hostess'. I walk through to collect my bag and see that it is the only one still circulating the machine. I grab it off the machine and walk through the quite airport next to Peeta. I grab my phone once we reach the entrance and just as I was about to ring for a taxi I hear someone call my name.

"Katniss!" several voices shout and I turn around to see all my friends running towards me.
"Hey guys" I say hugging them all individually. 
"I'm so sorry Kat" Annie says, holding onto Finnicks hand with tears in her eyes.~
"Yeh me too" I say hiding in Peetas chest.
"Who's driving" Peeta says trying to change the subject.
"Me and Marvel" Cato says. 

Me, Peeta, Annie and Finnick get into once car with Marvel and the rest pile in with Cato.
I spend the short journey in silence, holding onto Peeta's hand thinking about how going back to school on Monday will go down for the two of us. We have missed about 2 weeks of our senior year.

Apparently the singing competition has still gone on and both our groups have made it to the finals. They will happen next Friday so we still have a little time to put something together. We arrive home and I walk straight up to my room, dragging my suitcase behind me. I chuck it to one side and fall onto my bed. I hear a few voices and my name brushed around downstairs but I'm to distracted to care. A few moments later Peeta walks in and throws his crutches to one side before joining me on my bed. Tomorrow is Sunday so I only have one day to prepare myself for Monday and I'm already dreading it...
