Chapter 1 - New start

Katniss' POV

"KATNISSSSS!" 

I grumble and bury my face in my duvet as my cousin Glimmer bursts into my room and jumps on the bed.

"Get up katniss, come on you need to get ready! Remember to wear something nice and make-up to, I can't wait for you to meet my friends!" She squeals running out of the room.

I moan and fling the covers of my body and swinging my legs over the side of the bed. I stumble, still half asleep into my wardrobe packed full of clothes. As soon as I arrived Glimmer took me on a shopping spree to fill my wardrobe even though I had already bought some of my clothes from my house in 12.

I decide to wear a sunset orange crop top with some dark-wash highwaisted jeans. I decide to wear minimal make-up, just some foundation, eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss hoping that it will live up to Glimmers standards. I leave my hair in its natural waves before slipping on some black wedges and heading downstairs.

"Are you ready to go?" Glimmer asks me from the kitchen.

Just as I was about to reply there was a knock on the door and Glimmer rushed past me. She swung open the door and immediately launched herself onto the boy waiting outside. It must be Cato. Everyday for the past 6 weeks all she did was talk about how perfect he was and how much she loved him. 

I look past the now snogging Glimmer and Cato and see an ashy-blonde haired boy with the most amazing blue eyes. He looks up from his phone and see's me staring. I blush, feeling my face begin to turn a shade of red. He smile's a goofy smile and clears his throat. Glimmer and Cato break apart and both blush after they realized we had been waiting for them to finish there make-out session.

"Should we get going then?" I ask from the doorway.

"Who's driving?" Glimmer ask's, whilst walking hand in hand with Cato towards the Dark Green. My favorite colour.

"Peeta, seeing as it's his car" Cato laughs.

So that's his name I think to myself whilst joining him in the front leaving Glimmer and Cato to continue there make-out session in the back of the car. 

"So you must be Katniss?" Peeta ask's never taking his eyes of the road. Even though I have only just met him I know I can trust him.

"Uh Yeah and you must peeta" I reply, looking at him from the corner of my eye. He looks so perfect.

"Glimmer hasn't shut up about you since the day you said you were coming aha" Peeta laughs "and trust me that's alot. But I must say she was right about one thing for sure.."

"and whats that?" I curiously ask

"Your absolutely beautiful" He says, glancing at me 

I begin to blush as he says this. "I'm really not this is all fake" I joke as he pulls into the school gates.

Today is my first day here a Panem High and I'm actually pretty nervous. Glimmer is in the popular group here so I assume that Peeta and Cato are aswell. 

Peeta parks the car and we are immediatly swarmed by several people all hugging and talking over each other.

"Katniss, this is Clove" Glimmer says pointing to a dark haired girl. "And these guys are Finnick, Marvel and Gale" She says pointing to three guys but all I seem to notice are Finnicks eyes. They are the exact shade of sea green which amazes me. "And then  this is annie" She tells me pointing to the Ginger-haired girl holding onto Finnicks hand.

"Hi it;s nice to meet you all" I nervously mumble which earns a laugh from the group.

"It's ok Katniss, We won't bite!" Marvel giggles at me.

"Glimmer has told us so many things about you so I'm sure we know most of your secrets before you even know them yourself!"Annie sweetly tells me.

I walk into the building next to Peeta as the rest of the group had paired up and wandered off.

"So where do I go again to get to the principals office?" I ask Peeta who walks beside, ignoring the stairs from about every girl in the school.

"I'll take you if you like, some of the students here get a little rough sometimes" Peeta laughs as he directs down the diffrent hallways until we finally reach a door that say's:

PRINCIPLE ABERNATHY

Peeta knocks on the door and opens it.

"Ahh Mr Mellark, and how are you doing today?" Principle Abernathy asks, glancing between me and Peeta.

"I'm good thanks, I'm just here to collect Katniss' timetable sir" 

"Oh yes Miss Everdeen, It's nice to have you here" He says to me as he hands me a slip of paper with all my lessons on it.

"Thank you sir, I will see you later" Peeta says, whilst shutting the door.

He takes my slip from me and smiles as he scans the piece of paper in his hands.

"Great, We have lessons together all week" He smiles at me as he leads me back through the crowd towards our first lesson together.
