Chapter 12 - Last Day

KATNISS POV

This term has gone by pretty quick. A lot of stuff has happened too. Me and Peeta got together, we entered a singing competition, I met all the people that I call my friends now.
I think of all this stuff as I get ready for my last day before Christmas break. Tomorrow me and Peeta are staying with his parents for 2 days and then we are getting a plane back to 12 for 2 weeks! I'm so excited it's unreal. I hae been skyping with Prim a lot and I know she is super excited to meet Peeta.
My train of thought is interrupted by the car horn outside. I look out my window and see Peeta making his at to the front door. I grab my bag and race downstairs. I fling open the door and see a startled Peeta.
"Sorry! I was just thinking about Christmas break" I apologise.
"That's alright" he says back, giving me and small kiss before taking my bags and putting them in the back seat of the car. I sit in the front whilst he drives and turn in the radio. Our song: That Feeling by We The Kings comes on and we begin to belt out the lyrics.
By the time we arrive at school y side hurts from laughing to much.
"Peeta I can't walk" I say between laughing "my side hurts"
He laughs at me as I jump on his back and he walks inside school to the tutor base. We enter the room, me still in Peetas back, and get a series of looks as he makes his way over to our group of friends.
"What are you to doing?" Gale asks.
"I laughed to hard in the car and my side hurt so I couldn't walk" I say as I slide of Peetas back.
"Alright class settle down!" Mr heavensbee shouts from the door. Me and Peeta take our seats and listen to his speech about how we should be responsible over the holidays and to not eat to much food. We listen to all his corny jokes and finally he let's is leave for 1st period which is gym. I walk to the changing rooms with Annie and Clove and get changed into our green shorts and Black shirts. I run out into the gym to find that we are doing running again.
"Mellark! Everdeen!" Coach Enobaria shouts. "I want you to show how this is done! You need to run 10 laps of the track, whilst racing, in under 10 minutes!"
She wants us to run a lap a minute whilst racing each other. She really is crazy. I join Peeta at the start line ad wait for the whistle.
"Should I go slow Everdeen?" Peeta asks
"Nope" I say running off the start line as the whistle is blown. In the confusion Peeta was already behind me. I run 3 laps at a steady pace with Peeta behind the hole time until the 4th lap when he sprints and overtakes me. The whole class is cheering with half chanting my name and the other half chanting Peeta's. I run a little faster and catch up with him so we are level.
This goes on until the final lap and I sprint ahead of him. He also speeds up as I think I'm going to lose when we both cross the finish line. He runs up beside me and we both collapse on the floor. My head is next to Peeta's so I hear him when he says
"Nice job Everdeen"
"You too Mellark" I say back panting.
Coach Enobaria walks up to us and leans over our heads.
"Good job but it was a draw" she tells the rest of the class to start running around teach before returning to us.
"You both can go sit on the benches for this section of class"
I get up of the floor and help Peeta up. We race to the very top if the benches and collapse onto eachother. I take a seat in Peetas lap and he wraps his arms around my waist. I stare into his eyes until I can't resist it anymore and kiss him.
He is startled at first but soon kisses me back, and hard. His hands travel over my shirt and mine find his hair as his tongue enters my mouth. I lean back into him and he holds me tighter. The bells rings and I pout as he pulls away.
"Come on" He says holding out his hand.
I take it and we walk back down the stairs to the changing rooms.
I change quickly and meet Clove outside so we can go to Drama.
We walk over to the drama block discussing all things boys.
"So have you guys....done it?" Clove asks me.
I laugh. "No Clove, we haven't..have you and Marvel done it then?" I ask curiously.
"We might if done..."
I gasp. "When Clove?!"
"Finnicks party.... You know when we disappeared for awhile? yeh" She says walking into the drama studio.
I see the rest of the group and run up and hug Peeta. our teacher walks in and takes to the stage. The class stops talking when we all catch sight of him.
"Morning class! My name is Mr Flickerman but you all may call me Ceaser!" He gives a toothy laugh and continues. "Now today we will be auditioning for the next school performance of Romea and Juliet! I will hand out some scripts so start practicing! You may pick any scene and any character you like just be ready by the end if the lesson. " He hands out some scripts and I ask Peeta what part he is going to audition for.
"Umm Romeo maybe? I think you should go for Juliet" He says. I frown.
"You know I hate all the attention.." I start but he stops me.
"Kat listen. You are an amazing actress okay? and I don't want anybody else to play my Juliet okay? You have to"
I agree and start learning my chosen scene. When he says time up I think I have learnt it pretty well.
He calls me and Peeta up seeing as we are auditioning with the same scene.
"1, 2, 3 go" he says sitting in his chair.
I begin the Scene and by the end I think we have done pretty well. The whole class is silent and I think we have done terrible until the class erupts into applause. Peeta smiles and side hugs me and kisses me on the cheek.
"We'll class I think we have our Romeo and Juliet!"
I smile and take my seat again with Peeta. the rest of the group audition and get the parts that they want. By the end of the lesson we are all feeling pleased as we head to break.
After break me and Peeta have free Period so we decide to sit in the cafeteria. I grab some pasta salad and we share it.
"So what time should I come to your parents?" I ask Peeta.
"We'll I have a shift from 9:30 till 12 so you are welcome during that time if you wanna help out but if your busy then 12:30?" He replies.
"I'll come around 10:00 if that's alright with you cinnamon toast" I say taking a bite out of the pasta.
"That's fine but don't forget your stuff for your parents cause it's an early start when we go to 12" Peeta says taking another bite if the salad.
We continue to discuss our plan until free period is over. The rest of the day is pretty boring as we are either watching a film or being lectured about safety and being well behaved. When the bell finally rings everybody throws there sheets of paper in the air and runs out the room. I wait until the end and leave the room. I walk out when I realise that Peeta drove me here. I text him and he replies telling me to meet him by his car.
I walk out and find him with the rest of the group.
"Hey Kat I'm having a sleepover at mine if you wanna come" Marvel says.
"Sure are you going Peeta" I say because I know he has an early shift at the bakery.
"Yeh I just have to leave a little early that's all" he says with a smile.
"Cool we'll I will see you guys at 6:39 then?" Marvel says walking to his car.
"Okay Bye!" I shout getting into Peetas car.
He drops me off at home and I pack my things for Marvels and then for Christmas break. I end up with 2 suitcases and a small bag for the plane. by the time I had finished packing it was 5 so I decide to have a shower. After I dress in some leggings and a jumper seeing as it was just Marvel and we weren't going anywhere. I throw my hair in a bun and grab my things. I place my suitcases in the boot of my car and drive over to Marvels. When I arrive everybody else is already there so I join the circle for truth or dare.
It was Glimmers turn so she spun the bottle and it landed on Gale.
"Truth or dare"
"Umm dare?" Gale says and I can see Johanna face palm.
"I dare you and Johanna to go over to Miss Trinkets house and knock on the door then when she opens it full on song eachother and don't stop!" Glimmer says.
Gale and Johanna both frown but walk out the front door. The rest of is follow them and hide in some bushes opposite the house. We watch as Gale knocks on the door and as soon as Effie opens the door Johanna and Gale jump at each other an begin kissing. We all giggle behind the bushes and Finnick takes his phone out to record. We see Effie try to break them apart but they just push her away. Eventually she gives up as slams the door. Gale and Johanna run back across the road towards the bushes were we are hiding.
We head back to the house and create the circle again. Seeing as it was Gales turn he spins the bottle and it lands on Johanna.
"Truth of Dare?"
"Truth" she says without even thinking.
"Are you still a virgin?" He asks with a smirk.
"Nope" she says putting emphasis on the P.
Everybody looks at her.
"What?" she says "I bet most of you aren't virgins either! anyways I'm tired of this game let's watch a film" Johanna gets up and places paranormal activity 3 in the DVD player. I don't like scary films so I cuddle up to Peeta. Half way through the film My eyelids stay to droop and I drift off listening to the
rest of the coup scream at the tv.
