Chapter 7 - The story

I finish changing and leave the locker room to find Peeta waiting for me outside.

Before I can say anything he interrupts me with one simple word.

"Detention" I groan at the thought of having to sit with Beetee for 2 hours but then again I will have Peeta there with me so it can't be that bad can it? I text Glimmer quickly to let her know I will be late and she replies back that Cato is with her. I still have to ask him about the whole 'dad' thing that happened this morning. Peeta snaps his fingers in front of my face, bringing me back to reality.

"You ok?" he asks me, his voice full of concern. Oh how I love this boy.

"Never better" I reply taking his hand and walking back to the science labs. When we arrive we see a note on the door telling us that our detention has been post poned to a later date. I let out a sigh of relief as Peeta jumps on the near by bench and screams loudly.

"Shhh Peeta" I tell him laughing my head off.

I grab his hand and pull him back down to my level, kissing him at the same time.

We race back to my car and Peeta try's to tell me he won when it was clearly me. I take my seat behind the wheel and reverse once Peeta has joined me in the front. Peeta turns on the radio and the song playing is a One Direction Song. It's their new one 'You and I' Obviously I new all the words but I was pleasantly surprised when Peeta did too. I stare at him and he just looks at me and shrugs.

"A teenage boy gets bored studying!" He continues to sing the rest of the song whilst I just listen to his sweet voice. The song ends just as we are pulling into the driveway. Peeta gets out first whilst I reach for my bag. Whilst getting my bag he must of run around to my side because all of a sudden my door is wide open and Peeta stands in front of it looking very pleased with himself.

"My lady" He says holding out his hand for me. I gladly take it and he grabs my waist pulling me into a sideways hug. He leads me to the front door, still holding my waist and I open it for the both of us. I dump my bag and jacket at the door and he does the same. He follows me into the kitchen where I see Cato in tears with Glimmer comforting him.

"Hey guys" I say softly, trying not to alert Cato. Peeta doesn't quite get the idea though.

"Cato! Are you hurt? What's the matter?" I mentally face palm as he goes and sits next to Cato. He lifts his head and stutters out a small "hey" before turning back to Glimmer and hugging her again.

" Is this about this morning?" I ask them both.

Cato turns to me again and nods.

"You should tell them, pea" That's Glimmers nick name for Cato as he loves Peas "they will help you I'm sure" I begin to wonder what it is that's going on between them.

It takes him a while but soon enough he begins to tell us about what happened this morning.

"I woke up, like I normally do and went to wake up polly my younger sister. I got in the shower but I guess I was to pre occupied and left my dirty clothes on the floor. I went downstairs and said morning to everyone and my dad went upstairs to shower so he was ready for work. I was sat eating my cereal when I heard him shout from the bathroom, that's when I texted you to come get me. He came storming down the stairs and was red in the face. He began to swear and shout all these thing at me like 'leave and never come back' or 'your just a useless pile of crap that can't do anything'. At that point he was taking of his belt but you guys arrived and I bolted. He chased me as you guys saw and I haven't been home since"

After he had finished his story no one spoke.

"Cato you can stay here as long as you need to, you know that right?" I tell, grabbing a glass of water for him. I place it down in front of him and take my seat next to Peeta again. He has tears in his eyes. Peeta adores his and anyone's family and being Cato's best friend he must of met his dad. He must of played it nice for him then turned when he left. I lead Peeta into the living room, giving Cato and Glimmer some space to talk things through.

"Man that's tough" Peeta sighs plopping down on the couch.

"I know right" is all I say before taking a seat on his lap.

"Can you stay with me tonight?" I ask Him

"Always" He replies, and I slowly start to drift of to sleep in his arms....

I know I wasn't going to update until tomorrow but I'm bored and can't sleep so I thought I would just update for you all😘
