Today my best friend died. Her name was Sophie and she was my first pet. I got her when I was a year old and she's been my best friend ever since. She started having trouble walking a few months ago since she's 14 and just last night they had to rush her to the vet because she was having trouble breathing. I was at my friend's house and didn't know any of this. Nobody let me know any of this was happening.
I got home from my friends about an hour ago and my parents told me. She was there for me through lots of things. When my dad died when I was 4, Sophie calmed me down. Whenever I would get upset about anything she was there. We used to make jokes about her because she was old and lazy. When I moved to California she had to stay with my grandparents in Tennessee. I moved here about 6 years ago and I've only seen her a few times since then. I went home for Christmas break and got to see her. Even then, we knew she only had a little bit of time left. She looked like she was in pain all the time.
The worst part about all of this is the fact that I never got to say goodbye. I'm sorry if I don't update a lot this week, I know she was just a dog but this has really taken a toll on me. She meant so much to me. Please don't ask me to update today. I've been in my room crying my eyes out and I don't really want to write anything right now.
