Josephine sat in the back of the classic black vehicle as she listened to the brother's conversation. She was picking off the dry blood on her skin leaning up against the door, feet up on the seat. As they drove on and on, the brother's seemed to forget that she was back there. Josephine thought considering that now they had a guest with them, they would at least act more appropriate but that was not the case. The younger Gecko acted like there wasn't even a person in the back seat. The older one wasn't much different, although he would occasionally ask the blonde girl how she was doing.
"That liquor store had to be one of our best exits ever. Maybe even top five." Richie commented, still not getting over what happened only a few hours ago.
Josephine sat up in the middle of the back seat planning on joining the conversation until she saw the older popping something into his mouth from a pill bottle then drinking whatever it was down. "Hey hot shot, I'm not looking to die before we even make it across the border." Josephine spoke making eye contact with the man through the rearview mirror, "And for the record, Richie, that happens to be in my top 100. That did not go smooth at all."
"As I was saying," Richie continued ignoring the girl, "The way that booze caught on fire, was like bananas flambé! It even topped the bank." Richie flashed a smile at Seth who was not impressed whatsoever.
"That liquor store was supposed to be a quick piss stop, not a goddamn Lee Marvin moment," Seth rolled his eyes at his smirking brother before looking in the rearview mirror at Josephine, "And, princess, we're heading straight for the border, no need to worry. My brother and I gotta get to El Rey before the cops get organized."
"You keep talking about that place like it's the shit." Richie spoke coldly.
"That's cause it is." Seth said as if he was pointing the obvious.
"Well, that does mean 'The King' and you guys want to be fat and rich just like kings, right? So, there you go, it's the perfect place for you two." Josephine explained laying back down in the back seat. She stared at Richie as he looked at his brother through the bullet hole in his hand clearly pissed off.
"If we even make it there. The border is still an hour and a half away, by the time we get there it will be swarming with badges." Richie points out staring back at the road in front of him.
"He's got a point there, Seth." Josephine says agreeing with the younger brother for the first time.
"Okay then, princess, let's put your skills to the test. What do you suggest?" Seth asked her.
"Well, we need to lay low and this princess can not seem to find a comfortable position in this car." Josephine said staring up at the car's ceiling.
"What? Do I need to pull over so you can stretch your legs, your highness?" Seth asked trying to find the girl in the rearview mirror.
"And stay in the heat? No, thank you. I've had enough with the heat working at the shop for the past two months. We should let the heat die down and find some place to wait until tomorrow." Josephine suggests.
