Things had been weird since their encounter with Aramu. Richard had gone out late last night and hadn't come back yet and Seth hadn't said one word to Josephine. She wasn't sure if she wanted him to say something, knowing that it would probably lead to a fight. She knew she was acting weird too. She was trying to do everything in her power to block out the whispering that she couldn't understand. Although, she was nervous for what Seth would say, him not talking to her wasn't helping the whispering. Knowing that he could be mad at her, raised her anxiety which only made her focus on the whispers.
She sat at the table staring into complete nothingness, as Seth was working out not too far from her. He was doing pull-ups on a bar. He hadn't stopped doing pull-ups either.
"Seth, can you just say something to me, please," Josephine finally spoke up looking over at him. She hated the way she sounded, begging for a man's attention. If someone told her years ago that she was pleading to get one man to talk to her, she would have laughed.
When Seth didn't say anything, Josephine stood up, taking her chair with her and approached the pull-up bar Seth was using. She placed the chair right in front of it as Seth continued to ignore her, continuing his exercise. She stepped on the chair so she was level with the top of the bar and his face when he did a complete pull-up.
"Talk to me. Say something," Josephine said when his eyes were leveled with hers. He held the position for a few seconds before dropping himself to the ground, nicely. He walked over, lifted Josephine up from the chair, and then set her back down on the ground.
"I told you to stay in the car," Seth finally spoke, breaking his hours of silence with the girl.
She searched his brown eyes before speaking up, "I had a bad feeling and I couldn't just sit there knowing the people I care about could get hurt. If I wasn't there, she could've killed you, Seth."
"Is that really such a bad thing?" Seth scoffed, shaking his head.
Josephine frowned her brows, growing angry with his question. Before she could even realize what she was doing, she slapped the man in front of her across his face. He stepped back slightly and held his cheek.
"What the hell, Josie?" He asked, his eyes widened.
"Do you realize how selfish you are? What the hell is it with you and your death wish, huh? There could be an easy route and then there's the dangerous route. You always have to take the dangerous route, don't you? I am so sick of hearing you degrade yourself and say that you're not worth living. You're always thinking that the world is going to be better without you in it. Well, let me tell you, Seth Gecko, it won't be. You're my world, so I don't want to hear that. I swear to god, if I hear you say one more fucking thing negative about life, I will kill you my-fucking-self!"
"Josie, hey, whatever happens, it will be fine. I'll be okay no matter if I die or live." Seth said in a more quieter tone.
Josephine shook her head, tears forming in her eyes, "If you die, I won't be able to live with myself. What about me, Seth? What about me? I know you promised Kate that she wouldn't get hurt and she did and you hate yourself because of it but what about fucking me! So find something to fight for, something to live for. I don't care what it is but don't hurt me. If you're gone I won't be able to handle myself. If you don't find something to fight for, I don't think I'll be able to forgive you."
