As the two of them struggled to hold the police officer in their grip, they heard Reuben calling them over. He had his garage open and was waving rope in his hands. The two walked the policeman over, being careful not to lose grip of him. While Richard held him still, Josephine tied his hands and then, they set him down on the ground so she could tie his feet. More of Ximena's men brought in more infected people and soon Seth, Scott and Tanner came back as well. They. too, had an infected with them.
Josephine was glad to see that he was okay. She hated being away from him. Even if it was only twenty minutes, to her it felt like forever. He was clearly angry as he spoke to Tanner.
"We just can't keep shoving we can't keep shoving people in a garage hoping this whole thing is gonna change." Seth pointed out, gesturing to the infected people they had in the garage.
"Obviously," Tanner agreed, "But this is science, Mr. Gecko, not one of your heists. Research takes time."
"Yeah, and ask him to tell you how science killed Burt." Scott spoke up, angry with the new information he received from the Professor.
"What?" Josephine exclaimed, she could practically feel her heart drop out of her chest, "What the fuck did you do, Tanner? He was supposed to tell me more about me!"
"I did nothing," Tanner said simply but, Josephine didn't believe one word that came out of his mouth, "It was all him."
"You know what? I don't wanna hear it. The only thing I wanna hear outta you are some fuckin' facts." Seth said angrily, "Because if I find out that you're the reason that the only person who knows how to keep my girlfriend fucking safe from her own self, I swear to god I will kill you!"
"I'm working on it." Tanner said ignoring the threat.
After some time, all of them - including Dakota much to Josephine's surprise - were gathered around a table in the garage staring out a map that Freddie had drawn up. It was a diagram of the water system. Dakota had come to the conclusion that people who were infected all had something in common, the use of water. The locusts must have contaminated the water that the neighborhood was sharing. "Treatment plant's here, just on the other side of this house." Freddie pointed at a poorly drawn house on the yellow lined paper.
"Dedicated water supply. That's why Shady Glen has been feeling it first." Dakota added on understanding what Freddie was talking about.
"That doesn't mean it won't spread." Ximena pointed out as she joined the circle, "My men just locked down three more houses."
"Okay," Josephine said, "So, we spread the word. No more tap water."
Tanner began speaking but Josephine's automatic response was to tune him out she found him that obnoxious. Josephine did catch that he wanted to use Scott to find some research in his book.
"Dude, I'm not gonna be your research monkey. I'm here to slice some cannibals." Scott snapped at the man.
"Hey!" Freddie yelled getting everyone's attention, "Those people have families. It's not a fuckin' video game."
