Chapter 19: Replace Me, Please?

As all my classmates went out, I walked towards my teacher.

"Ms. Rodriguez, may I speak to you?" I said.

"Not gonna happen." She said as she looked at me seriously.

"You don't even know what I was gonna say, ma'am." I said nervously.

"I know you don't like your role as Juliet." She said as she looked down at her notes.

"Yeah, well... I just.... think Im not... perfect for the role..." I said.

"Well Ms. Lightning, I see you attend gym class, the science laboratory, the library, the speech lab.... But you never attend Theater." She said as she looked up at me, worriedly.

"I just don't see myself be on stage, it frightens me... So that's why you should replace me?" I said hopefully.

"Im sorry but I made up my mind, Ms. Lightning." She said as she stood up and walked out of the classroom.

Im dead. I thought to myself.

I sighed and walked out of the classroom.

I saw my friends as they walk towards me.

"So what happened?" Shay asked.

"I asked Ms. Rodriguez if she could replace me but... she said that she made up her mind." I groaned.

"Well, sometimes Ms. Rodriguez is strict." Pat said.

"Yeah, I just got surprised that she gave me the lead role to the play.." I said as we started to walk to the cafeteria.

"Well, I think you can do it. Just need the hard work." Drea said happily.

"Like that will happen." I said sarcastically.

"Why not?" Shay asked.

"I don't like the spotlight. Like people watching every move you make and if you make one mistake, you'll hear murmurs from the crowd." I said nervously.

"No, don't say that. You'll get scared if you saw the stage itself." Pat said.

"Yeah, because I don't like to attend the theater." I said obviously.

"I think its gonna be fun.." Shay said happily.

"Fun?! Its gonna be a nightmare!" I said sarcastically.

As we arrived at the cafeteria, I heard people started mumbling things..

I can't believe she's playing the role of Juliet!

I can't believe that Charlie's going to kiss her!

Yeah, she's so stupid and very much not worth it!

I can't believe that she even got the guts to walk in here!

What a nerd!

I wanted to cry as I can't take everything what they said to me... but I just smiled and not let my girls know that I'm getting hurt from the hate.

"Hey, I think I left my wallet in my bag." I lied.

"But your bag is behind you." Pat said sarcastically.

"Oh." I said as I made a fake smile.

"What's wrong?" Drea asked.

"Nothing. I'm just not hungry right now." I said.

"Okay then let's--"

I cut Shay off. "No, just stay here and eat. I'm just gonna take some fresh air."

"Are you sure?" Shay asked.

"Yeah." I turned my back as I walked out of the cafeteria.

Now where should I go?

I started to walk around as I don't really know where I'm going..
