Dakota's Point of View
It's been like an hour or so since Ryan and I got here. I've been in the waiting room. Ryan's been with Reid. I want to give them some privacy. I wasn't allowed to check Reid's discharge.
Reid dislocated his wrist pretty bad. It was stretching the tendon and he accidentally move it the wrong way. Therefore, breaking the tendon. Which I didn't even think was possible. But he almost died out there. From his hemophilia and that. He hit his head pretty hard as well.
Apparently Nathan also got himself into some trouble. Hunter said that he called him at 11:45pm. So they're here now. Angelina is too. I checked Nathan's discharge. He can be discharged as soon as they run a few more tests and put him on some other medication so this doesn't happen.
"DJ?" Hunter says.
"Yeah?" I say. He's been freaked since Nathan called.
"Do you think I did the right thing?" He asks.
"What do you mean? Of course you did the right thing to bring him here," I say and lean my head on him.
"I mean. When he called he was having a mental breakdown, which is part of him having all those medications. He usually handles them fine on his own. But I could hear him crying and saying that he needed help and didn't know what to do. Then when I got there I found him in the corner of the living room sitting in the dark. When I turned the lights on he was covered in blood. I asked him what happened. He said he didn't remember," he explains.
"Well. Hunter. I think you did the right thing. Even if he didn't want help," I say.
"It took like an hour to get him to let me bring him here," he says, "He said that he made up his mind about living."
"Oh my gosh Hunter, that's terrible," I say.
"I know. But that's not even the worst part. He thinks that nobody would care," he says, "I had to frickin drug him to get him out of his house."
"Hunter," I say, "You did the right thing. I may have only known him for about a year, but from what I can tell, you guys do everything you can to help him through his battles."
"I-I," he starts, "I just wish I could wake up knowing he's alive. I wish I didn't have to check and make sure he's still breathing."
"We all do," I say, "He's sick."
It's silent for a moment.
Then I ask, "Do you want to go see him?"
"Yeah," he sniffles, "That'd be great." I realize that Hunter has a few tears running down his face.
"Okay," I say and hold his hand with mine.
I know which room he's in. I start guiding Hunter down the hall and then open a door. Nathan is in there with Angelina. She's sitting on the bed with him. He's got one arm around her and places a kiss on her temple. She holds his other hand and runs her finger over the scars.
"I'm so sorry," he says, "I really am. I don't know what happened."
"I'm sorry too Nathan," she says and gets up and walks out almost right into me.
"Hey," I say and grab her by her wrist. Hunter walks in.
"What?" She snaps, "He said he doesn't remember anything."
"He had a mental breakdown," I say.
"I'm sorry. I'm just so sick and tired. Do you think he does this for attention?" She asks.
