| Signe |
She stopped singing abruptly when she didn't hear her mother breath again. Jolene's chest didn't raise and fall anymore and that moment, although expected, was something she did not want to happen.
"Mom?" Signe called as tears began blurring her vision again. She shook her mother gently, yet she got no answer." Mom! Wake up please!"
Still nothing. The ginger placed her head on her chest, but instead of hearing a strong heart beating she heard nothing. Signe's heart would have broken if there was still left anything of it.
"Mom! Mom wake up!" She yelled at her mother even though she knew she wouldn't. As expected she got no answer. She hugged Jolene's limp body which was still warm and cried loudly against it, begging her to not go albeit she was already gone. She heard Daniel's footsteps coming from the stairway, rushing towards his room only to find Signe crying next to her mother. He began crying as well when he realized what was before his eyes, he hurried to get next to the girl, pulling her away from Jolene to hug her. The ginger's tears stained his t-shirt, yet he didn't care.
"She's g-gone." She sobbed against his chest. Her mother was gone, she died while she listened to Signe sing to her.
"I know darling. She's in a better place now." Daniel cried. He kissed the girl's forehead and told her to call Blake to come and get her, that he would take care of the rest. Signe wanted to protest, yet she wasn't strong enough do it so she just nodded and obeyed. She left the room, noticing before leaving Daniel kissing her mother's lips one last time before getting up and pick up his phone, his other hand cleaning his tears.
Telling Blake what happened was a challenge, she couldn't stop crying, a state of numbness getting hold of her sense slowly. Fortunately, there wasn't needed any words for the blond boy to understand what had happened.
"I'm going to get you cookie." He warned. Before the girl could even thank him - or try too - he continued to speak. "I'm so sorry love."
Signe couldn't help but feel like telling someone their sorry when someone dies pointless. First, because it wasn't their fault and second because there was nothing they could say that would lessen the pain as well as for bringing the person they lost.

The ginger was now back on her apartment, back on the bed that had seen more tears from the girl than smiles, back in the safety of the four walls who hid more tears than laughter. Blake insisted in cuddling since he didn't want to leave her alone and also because he believed it would help the girl feel better. Knowing Blake as he was, Signe had no other option but to do it as he said, plus she didn't want to argue with him and make her feel worse and drag her friend along with her.
Later on, when Signe was tired of crying and didn't seem to cry anymore she decided to speak with Blake, who surprisingly was still awake, whispering sweet nothings into her ears while she cried.
"Hey Blake..." The girl called, her throat sore and raspy from all the crying.
"Yes, love?"
"How's that girl you started seeing? What was her name? Eva?"
Blake nodded. "She's good. We were going out tomorrow, but I can cancel it."
"No. Don't cancel. It's fine." Signe said after a sigh. Eva and Blake had gotten closer ever since that day back at the coffee shop, the day she found out her mother had cancer. It helped the fact the only place Blake got a job was in the same supermarket the girl worked at.
"It's your mother's funeral Signe. I'm not going to miss that." Blake told her as he placed a kiss on the girl's hair. "I'm sure Eva will understand."
