Stargazing.
That had been Shawn's idea of how to spend their last night together before he leaves the following day. She had smiled at his suggestion, her mind recalling that day at Starbucks three years ago where he confessed he'd like to stargaze with the girl again. There they were, lying down on the old blanket Shawn had in his closet while staring at the dark sky covered with small lights. It was unbelievable and mind blowing how most of those stars had died many years ago by the time their light reached the planet Earth.
"You're really quiet," Signe commented as she turned her head to the side to be able to look at him.
"I'm just appreciating peace and quiet while I have it," Shawn explained, his eyes glimmering with the light of the stars being mirrored. That could be true, however, the girl knew there was something else bothering him.
"I'm almost certain you'll be enjoying more hanging out with your fans than the peace and quiet." The ginger said. She focused again on the clean sky, they got lucky it hadn't rain and no gray clouds covered the wonderful stars.
"What will you be doing while I'm gone?"
"That's a pretty good question to be honest." Signe had never thought much about her future, she didn't even know if she would wake up tomorrow, how could she plan stuff that could never happen? Besides she had absolutely no idea of what to do with her life. "Probably making covers to YouTube and find a job until I can think of something to do. I don't know for sure."
"Hey, mom made me ask if you guys want hot cocoa?" Aaliyah questioned appearing in their vision camp before her brother could speak.
"Oh, that'd be great!" Signe exclaimed. Shawn shook his head and thanked his sister. Aaliyah left them alone for a few minutes until she came back with the ginger's hot cocoa.
"I'm sure you'll find something you'd like to do." He spoke once Aaliyah left them alone again whilst Signe sat straight in order to take a sip of the warm drink. Did he sounded sad or was that all in my mind? The girl asked herself. Shawn was really acting weird, he could be leaving tomorrow but until that moment he didn't seem as upset as before. He had told her he had accepted the fact they wouldn't be seeing each other often, so what had happened? You're just being paranoid Signe, he's just sad she told herself.
"Hopefully." With that, they fell in silence. There wasn't much left to say, everything they wanted to get off their chests was already let out.
"Do you wanna get out of here?" Shawn inquired all of a sudden as he sat straight next to her.
"And go where?" She asked surprised. She rose an eyebrow at the same time she observed the boy, trying to figure out what was going through his mind.
"Somewhere else."
"Don't you have to sleep? I mean you are going to catch a plane early, you need to rest!" Signe protested. Shawn chuckled and grabbed her by the hand pulling her up.
"I can always sleep on the plane. C'mon!" She almost let the mug fell from her hand. Shawn snatched it from her hand, drank what was left of the drink and placed the mug on the grass before pulling her after him.
They just ran away from his house, hand in hand while they walked on the streets, the lights coming from the building being the urban stars, stealing the attention from the ones at the sky. The air was cold against their skins, yet it didn't bother them, they were involved in their little bubble of love, the fresh wind blowing felt good.
"You know, you won't be able to do this when you're on tour. Running away from things I mean..." Signe commented. She put herself in front of him and began walking backward, a goofy smile on her face.
"True, but I won't be running. I'm a strong independent man." He imitated the ginger while he tried to watch where he stepped to not hurt the girl accidentally.
"Yes, you are babe. Yes, you are." Signe laughed before stopping in her tracks. Shawn bumped into her, stopping abruptly, their eyes locking. She wrapped her arms around his neck, not even making an effort not to smirk. She stood on her tiptoes, trying to reach his lips, Shawn leaned down about to connect their lips when they heard shouting.
"Oh my God! It's Shawn and Signe!" They heard a fan say. The ginger rolled her eyes, holding back her tongue before she would say something she was going to regret. She didn't mind having people coming up to them and ask for pictures and chat, yet she had to admit it was pretty frustrating when she was trying to be with her boyfriend alone.
Three young girls made their way to them, big smiles on their faces, their eyes shining in the dark excited to meet Shawn. As usual, the brown haired boy smiled warmly at his fans and greeted them as he put his arm around Signe's waist since he knew she would distance herself a little considering she always felt like she was there for nothing.
"Me, Lizzie and Miriam love your songs so much! We are big fans." The older girl from the group spoke. She kept expressing how much she loved Shawn and how she could never stop listening to their songs. It made Shawn happy and it certainly made Signe happy by seeing his face light up with happiness.
"Can we take a picture with you and then take one with you both?" Lizzie or Miriam - the ginger wasn't sure, they were twins and the darkness didn't exactly help to distinguish them easily - asked.
"Sure! Baby, you don't mind, do you?" He questioned as he squeezed her body against his slightly.
"Of course not!" She smiled. Annie, the first one to speak to them handed the girl her iPhone for her to take them a photo. Signe waited for them to pose and snapped a few photos of them, hoping, at least one of them was good enough for the girls. She handed Annie's phone back to the owner who gave Shawn the phone. They posed in their places one more time, this time with the ginger tagging along. Once they were done, they thanked them both and strolled towards what was probably their parents waiting in the distance. "This was fun."
"This...was nothing." He chuckled as he pulled Signe closer to his body. He kissed her on the forehead and continued to walk. They fell in a comfortable silence, Signe holding his hand while looking at the buildings, at the closed shops due to being late and then at her boots while she tried to assimilate that after tomorrow she would be left with Blake. If it wasn't for Blake, she would have been completely alone, fortunately, that wasn't the case and Blake was an awesome person to hang around with, therefore boredom had no place in her agenda.
Pretty soon they found themselves at the beach. Last time they went to the beach at night Shawn went to the hospital. It was weird standing there again, recalling images they both wanted to forget, nevertheless it was those events that took Signe to the limit and to stand up for herself. She squeezed his hand, as flashbacks invaded her mind.
"It's alright. We are going to be fine." Shawn assured. The girl nodded in agreement. Jeremy was long gone, he would never come back to haunt her anymore. All that was left were the terrifying memories of his existence.
"I still can't believe three years passed by already." She commented in disbelief. Her green eyes tried to figure out where the waves were crashing, only making out the white bubbles.
"I know. More three amazing years by your side." The boy exclaimed placing a kiss on her hair. Signe looked up at him to find him staring at her warmly, she smiled at him, unable to contain her happiness. She was so happy by being by his side she could explode from happiness. " I love you so much, Signe Wilson. You have no idea of how happy you make me. You are the best thing that happened in my life, there's no changing that."
"Aww, Shawn. Stop, you're gonna make me cry." The ginger hugged him tightly. She didn't want to let go of him, she didn't want him to go where she couldn't go, but Signe knew how it worked. If she truly loved him she would let him go and that was exactly what she was going to do. Seeing him happy would bring her happiness as well and the distance will just be a minor obstacle they would surely get over it. She believed in them and after what they went through three years ago, only a fool wouldn't have faith.
