Once they landed all Signe wanted to do was to buy a ticket and go back to Toronto, yet she followed behind Blake and Eva like a child throwing a tantrum. She didn't want to be there, but did she had a choice? No. Signe kept walking behind them when she saw a flash. The girl didn't even look towards the direction of the source of the light, she fastened her pace and caught up with Blake and Eva who were walking faster as well.
"We just landed c'mon!" Blake groaned as he grabbed Eva's hand a began pulling her after him. That was the price of being known which sometimes was flattering, people cared about you and looked up to you, but it could also be irritating, especially when those people didn't know when they shouldn't cross the line. It was evident, after a while, having all the attention was awful and unfortunately that was something Signe would have to get used to. She was well aware of what kind of drama would come, in fact, it would start very soon, once she announces to her followers she signed a contract.
They rushed out of the airport, catching the first taxi they found outside, which drove them to the hotel where the ginger was one hundred percent sure Shawn was in. She swore to herself she wouldn't leave the room assigned to her, there was no way she would look at him. Not only because she was mad at him, hurt, but because she wasn't sure of how she would feel once she sees him. Honestly, that scared Signe. Not knowing how she would possibly react was scary, she did not want to show the weak side, yet at the same time she did not want to be too harsh, after all, Shawn had meant a lot to her. It didn't take until they got to the hotel where they would spend the night and as soon as the ginger got her room that was where she rushed to, especially after overhearing Blake telling Eva, Shawn would meet up with them briefly. Fortunately, no one tried to stop her, which was good for all of them. Signe wouldn't make a scene and they wouldn't have to get mad at her for it. She closed herself in the room and leaned against the door, letting her backpack fall onto the floor, beside her. Knowing she was so close to Shawn made her tear up, no matter how angry and hurt she was with him, she couldn't help but miss him with all her being.
"No...you're not supposed to feel like this..."The girl mumbled to herself as she slid to the floor. She embraced her knees, supporting her chin with them, tears starting to slide down. Her head wasn't aching as much anymore which was a blessing, yet her bad mood was still on. "Why am I still crying over him for Christ's sake?"
Signe cleaned her tears with her hands and got up, approaching the window of the room to observe the city of Miami outside. Miami was clearly something else, it was a wonderful place, yet she wasn't there under the circumstances of meeting the city rather than having to face her ex-boyfriend. All of a sudden, there was a knock on the door. The ginger's heart racing at the thought of being Shawn, however, that all vanished once Aaliyah's voice was heard through the door.
"Signe! It's me, Aaliyah!"
She didn't even think twice about it being a trap or something, she just rushed to the door and opened it revealing Shawn's little sister. It wasn't necessary to say she had grown more ever since the last time they were together, which wasn't so long as it felt. The girl was immediately engulfed in a tight hug that she retributed seconds after when her brain processed what was happening.
"I missed you so much!" Aaliyah exclaimed as she tightened the hug. Signe felt bad for the girl, she was so hurt by her brother, she had totally forgotten about her. She could have called or something, the girl was a friend of her after all and that wouldn't change, regardless of what crap the world decided to throw at Signe.
"I missed you too." The ginger laughed in content. That's when it hit her, if Aaliyah was there, then she wasn't alone. Her parents were there too. Well, ain't that lovely Signe thought bittersweetly whilst Shawn's little sister released.
"I tried to visit you more than a couple times, but it was never the good timing." Aaliyah said with a thin smile. Tragedies never come in a good timing either, but then, did tragedies have a good timing? They happened every time without caring whether you're happy and enjoying life or crying in the corner trying to understand how happiness seems so far away from achieving.
"It's fine. Don't worry." Signe reassured as she caressed the girl's hair.
"You're different." She commented at the same time she tilted her head to the side a few inches, her brown eyes examining her. "You look more..."
"Please don't say old!"
"Not old you silly!" Aaliyah chuckled whilst she rolled her eyes. She walked past her, allowing Signe to close the door and sat on the edge of the bed. "I was going to say more mature."
"Thanks, I guess." The ginger truly didn't know how to answer that. She was more mature, more grown because life forced her to. That's what happens to someone in one point, they're forced to grow up and realize no matter what, you are alone and will have to do things for yourself on your own.
They talked about a lot afterwards, not really minding the fact Aaliyah was younger. She was really mature for someone with only thirteen years old, age didn't mean nothing at all. They talked until someone knocked on the door again which turned out to be Eva.
"Hey, I hope I'm not interrupting anything." She said with a soft smile, her eyes on Signe before she diverted her attention to Aaliyah who was still sitting on the edge of the bed. "Your mother was calling you, you better go."
"Thanks!" The young girl replied grinning as she got up and walked out of the room, waving at the two girls.
"We should go too. The concert will start soon." Eva warned. Signe bit her lower lip and began playing with her fingers. She wasn't ready, in fact, she didn't want to go at all.
"I can't..." She shook her head as she took a step back.
"Yes, you can."Eva assured as she reached for Signe's hand, hesitating a bit at first. "Look, we wouldn't be doing this if he wasn't really sorry. You two don't have to get back together, just forgive him."
"I don't know if I can." Signe said. She didn't want her heart to break again, especially when it wasn't even healed. She was certain it would take a long while until the fresh wounds would become scars and she could move on.
"It'll be fine. You'll see. I can be with you all the time. C'mon." Right there and then the ginger understood how Blake relied on her. She seemed to know what to say and what to do and no matter how unsure you are of something, Eva was able to give you a strange, yet welcoming, confidence.
She gave in, defeated, allowing Eva to lead the way. Her heart raced a little, anxiety clenching her stomach at the thought of seeing Shawn again. She had tried to erase him, to forget him, but how can you forget someone who you have known for so long and meant a lot? How could she forget him, when she spent years trying to memorize the color of his eyes, the way he smiled, how his laugh sounded and it had worked, she would never forget him.
The trip to where Shawn was going to give the concert was quiet, the only people speaking was Eva and Blake who whispered to each other as if they were afraid she was going to blow up at them again. The troubled part was seeing Shawn's parents again, whose faces light when they saw her again after quite a while. They embraced her in a welcoming and warm hug like they would always do. It was good to know some things don't change Signe thought as she battled tears. She had never admitted it before, yet Shawn's family was basically a second family to her and it was good to know they were still welcoming her as if nothing had changed.
Yet, would she be able to forgive Shawn? And if she did, would they be able to keep something going without it being awkward? Signe hated how the only way to find that out, was facing the boy.
