For the first time, Signe was visiting her mother's grave. She wasn't sure of what would happen when she would get there, but she was indeed prepared to face a stone instead of her mother. Blake had offered to go with her which she refused and thanked him by saying that was something she had to do by herself. She was no longer child that needed to be shielded from every painful event in her life and so she must do it by herself. Living meant you had to adapt to whatever life threw at your face and although it was hard to do it, Signe was starting to believe that maybe her life could be so much more than bringing people down constantly along her.

The ginger parked her car in a free spot in the parking lot, turned the engine off and stood there, observing an old lady in the distance putting flowers over a grave as she spoke to no one. Then she noticed a small child running towards the old lady, probably her grandson who smiled widely at the lady as he pointed at the stone. The old lady nodded to what the little kid was saying, a sad smile on her lips the poor boy didn't seem to notice. Signe sighed, took the seat belt off and got out of the car. She took a deep breath a began walking with determination to where her mother's grave could be found at the same time she watched a few other graves, finding it scary one day everyone would end up like that. Under the dirt and a stone to represent what is left of you. She kept walking until she found it, fresh flowers were on a grave and she cursed mentally after realizing she hadn't brought any with her. Signe kneeled down on the dirt, passing her fingers over the carved letters on the cold stone.

Jolene Wilson

Beloved wife and mother.
Will be eternally missed by her husband and daughter.

The girl's eyes began to water, the feeling of emptiness from not having her mother anymore taking over her. Her fingers moved to the picture chosen to represent Jolene in life. Her mother was smiling widely, her eyes were full of life and light unaware of the card life was going to pull on her.

"Are you okay?" A voice came from behind her which she had never heard before. She peeked over her shoulder to see the small boy she had seen minutes ago with her grandmother.

"I think so, thank you for asking." Signe forced a smile to the kid who tried to look over her to see to see the gravestone in front of her.

"Is that your mommy?" The little kid asked innocently. His eyes were the color of amber, his hair was brown and was beginning to form adorable curls on the ends. He was wearing a Spiderman t-shirt and blue jeans and was holding a spiderman toy in his right hand.

"Yeah, she is."

"My mommy is in heaven too." The boy answered with a smile revealing a missing tooth. That broke Signe's heart and some tears escaped her eyes. She was always asking herself what would she do without her mother's guidance when that little boy needed it more than Signe. "I wanted to visit her, but my nana says I can't."

"One day you will see her." Signe assured as she turned around. Now, she was face to face with the little kid. "What's your name?"

"William, but everyone calls me Will." He answered as he looked over the shoulder as if he was making sure his grandma hadn't left him behind. "What's yours?

"I'm Signe."

The boy held his hand and waited for the ginger to shake it, who smiled and shook his hand gently.
