Chapter 40

It was the Christmas night, Signe was sitting on the floor next to the fireplace, Bonnie in her lap sleeping peacefully as she stared at the flames. Next to her, standing still near the fireplace was Blake who was trying to warm his hands. They were all wearing ugly Christmas sweaters as a joke as for their heads, Signe was using deer's ears with tiny bells on them, Blake was wearing an elf hat which matched with his girlfriend's elf hat. Maddie had bought on Amazon a Christmas tree hat and it was ridiculous and hilarious and she was damn proud of it. As for Shawn, he was wearing the classic Santa Claus hat. Maddie and Eva were trying to do hot cocoa the kitchen, while Shawn was sitting on the couch watching the first movie of Home Alone by himself.

"Can we like start sharing presents already?" Signe inquired impatiently. She wanted to give the presents she bought to her friends and see how they reacted to them. Besides, she was also pretty curious at what her friends got her.

"How many times do we have to answer you no, cookie?" Blake retorted as he sat down across her. Bonnie woke up, jolted her fur and began hopping towards the boy who picked her up and kissed her head.

"Until you answer me yes." The ginger smirked. Blake diverted his eyes from the bunny to glare at her. 

"I can't wait either! Let us start!" Maddie whined. On her hands was a tray with the hot cocoa, the smell of chocolate filling the air. She began giving a mug to each one until everyone had its own and placed the tray back in the kitchen. Then, she sat down next to Signe. 

"You are aware the presents are on the other side of the room right?" Shawn asked as he rose an eyebrow. 

"And so? There are two men in here, they can carry them all and put them next to us." Eva dared as she sat down next to her boyfriend. The blond glanced at her, made a face and placed Bonnie on her hands.

"C'mon Shawn. Let's just get this done." Blake could appear to be annoyed and forced to do it, yet everyone was aware it was all an act. Signe almost bet on the inside Blake was a little kid screeching for going to open the presents underneath the tree sooner. 

It took them a few minutes until they had all the presents next to them. Shawn sat down next to Maddie while Blake sat down where he was sitting previously. They stared at all the presents for brief seconds, as if they were trying to see what was inside them using their vision. Some of the presents were huge and those were the ones who brought more curiosity upon. Yet, the ginger knew the small ones were as special as the bigger ones.

"Okay, who starts?"

"Signe, wanna start with giving our present to Bonnie?" The blond boy suggested, his blue eyes shining. 

"You guys, bought a present for Bonnie?" Maddie inquired in disbelief. The girl rolled her eyes at her best friend and reached for a small box next to her boyfriend. Then she handed it to Blake, who ripped the present's paper and opened the box revealing a small knicked pink sweater. 

"Look at what mommy and daddy got you!" Blake exclaimed as he spoke - or tried to speak - in a soft voice.

"Am I the only one that's not okay with this?" Maddie complained causing Eva and Shawn to laugh. "Shawn you are aware Blake's calling your girlfriend mommy right?"

"Oh, no need to worry. We're divorced." Blake joked causing everyone - except Maddie - to break down laughing.

"Since when you do these type of jokes?"

"Maddie, calm down!" Signe told her as she placed a hand on her shoulder. Meanwhile, Blake was dressing the bunny in the tiny pink sweater and the result was overwhelming cuteness.

Following Bonnie's present, Eva picked up one with her boyfriend's name on it and handed it to him with a shy smile. He opened it revealing a letter which he began reading out loud.
