Two days later.
You sigh as you sit on the sofa patiently. Adeia is sitting next to you, resting heard head on your lap as you gently fondle with her black curly hair which is braided neatly.
"Mom, is he really coming?" Adeia questions once again, this time her voice is very tired - a far cry from her enthusiastic demeanor a few moments earlier.
You had finally agreed to let Michael into Adeia's life and this was the first step. You'd invited him home to spend some time with Adeia and if you felt it was right - you'd let him tell her that he was her father.
"He is darling, just be patient," you sigh as you try not to get annoyed. Michael said he'd be at your house at eight in the morning. It was now nine.
"But I'm so sleepy. I woke up early just to see him and-"
Your angel's voice is cut off by a loud knocking on the door and you jump a little. "See darling? That must be him," you smile softly as you get up and walk toward the door.
You open it and to your relief, you see Michael. You honestly didn't want to see Adeia's hopes shattered.
"Hi," he sounds a little out of breath. He's holding several gift bags in one hand and a bunch of balloons in the other. "I'm sorry I'm late I-"
"It's okay," you say softly as you feign a smile and let him in. "She's waiting for you on the sofa,"
Adeia squeals in excitement as soon as she sees him. "Michael!" she giggles as she runs up to him and he lifts her up, hugging her tightly.
"Hey!" he chuckles as he sets her down. "How are you?" he bends down and pinches her cheek lightly. You can see that he's trying his best not to cry.
"I'm better than ever! Now that you're here!" she claps her hands in excitement as her eyes land on the bags and balloons.
"Ah," Michael giggle softly as he notices her eyes. "They're all yours," he smiles as she gasps with bright eyes.
"Really?!" she struggles to contain her excitement. She looks at you for approval and you nod.
"Go ahead sweetie, he brought them for you," you say gently as you stand near the kitchen table, observing Adeia.
"Wow!" she exclaims as she notices that each bag is full of toys and coloring books. "Mom! There are story books as well!"
You giggle as you shake your head. She was just like you.
"I have an idea baby," you say softly as you walk towards her and bend down slightly. "Why don't you take Michael up to your room and show him your toys?"
Her eyes turn wider than distance and she nods quickly. "Yes!" she squeals. "Come on!" she encourages Michael to follow her as she runs up the stairs.
"I'll be there in a minute," he smiles as she disappears into her room. He turns to face you. "Thank you, for letting me come here,"
You sigh and nod slowly. "Yeah well..." you realize you really don't have anything to say. "You should get up there, Adeia isn't very patient," you sigh as you turn your back toward him.
"Oh..." his voice is a little hurt at your cold attitude. He begins to make his way upstairs when you begin to speak again.
"Michael?" you say softly and he turns around. You turn to face him and stare him down. "If you hurt her, I will murder you,"

"No! Kelly doesn't like that dress!" Adeia fusses as Michael sits on the floor with her, looking lost as ever.
